Online in game / party chat along with home xbox / family sharing.

I have four kids (ikr lol). Anyway, i have my xbox one as my home xbox, and the kids xbox i have enabled them to sign on as me (via text verification) and their own profiles to play games that i have purchased. They have no payment methods on their account
and they are bottle necked throb my verification methods. But i do like to play multilayer games with them using our respective xboxes.

The problem is we cannot seem to get voice chat working. I can hear them and they can't hear me .

All headsets are new and working with other devices such as phones and laptops. We have the adapters for the controllers also . All software and firmware is up to date. Only i have an xbox live subscription.

Is it the case that chat will only be enabled on the home xbox? When I'm signed in on both xboxes for example .

If i swapped home xboxes, and signed in on both - would the issue be reversed ?

What are the restrictions around this type of activity to enable gaming AND chat with my kids ?

I have the exact same question! I will say after hours of thinking all of my headsets or controller input jacks were jacked up I messed with the family permissions settings. Out of no where it started working on both ends after manipulating the child/teen/adult
restrictions. I have no idea how, but it did. However, we later tried to jump back on, changing nothing, it stopped again. So I tried the exact setting changes I did earlier with no luck. If I were a betting man for party chat or in-game chat to work we are
going to have to have 2 separate live accounts. Just my thought.

Yes Sir you can give access for chats and microphone permissions. Believe me brother I have tried all the above prior to my original post. I've gone as far as giving my child FULL permissions as I have on my system just to see if that worked. Right now
the status is my kid is able to join a party chat, hear everyone speaking, but no one can hear my kids voice. I know the mic works because my kid can send voice messages to friends, but when it comes to live chats either in a game or party my kid can hear
everyone, but no one can hear us.

This makes no sense why they can't chat with anyone. They should have all the same permissions I have. Any additional help would be great.

I believe that has control over things like microphones/headsets

Technically, since you are sharing the Gold membership to your Home Console (and not other accounts), the kid accounts stay a free silver account, and ONLY get the multiplayer and party benefits that the console grants them, while playing on your Home Console.

For the Xbox online service, the kids accounts appear as a standard free silver account, that are allowed to play multiplayer and do party chats thanks to the Gold sharing on the console.

They will NOT benefit from sales prices or the free Games with Gold.
