Online Gaming with Family Accounts

Hi. I have an xbox account and my family predominantly plays from one machine. My children like making their own progress in the games we purchase so we have set up family accounts for them under one xbox live account. For a while they were able to play
online and offline with the games we purchased under the master account, each playing their own campaigns. However, now that stopped working and they can only play games on the master account, not their sub-accounts. Is there a way to fix this? Do I need separate
xbox live accounts and purchase games separately for them to play them on the same console? Thanks for any help.

No, you should not have to do anything if you are on the same console system. When you log into your account and inspect the family tab what do you see?

Make sure the accounts are still active and that the parental control settings are set. It's possible some games are outside the permissions of the account (ratings for content outside its permissions)

if your sons account is set up on family settings as a child account I believe restrictions will automatically be set to not allow them to play a game that is not for their age group. age ratings on games are there to keep children safe.

This seems to be an issue with account that are part of a greater family account. My step son is a part of my family to limit his play after a certain time of night - and this seems the be the only correlation with why his account doesn’t work for the show 21 online.

Other online game’s work fine, but there seems to be something the game doesn’t like about family managed accounts.

This is his favorite game, can we get assistance with this?

I assume these accounts are child accounts and member of the family.

It has to do with some settings.

Here are the steps to create and add a child account as a family member to your adult account

Since they will be using the same console and logging in separately, you can set the console as your adult account's home console, so that any child account that logs in can share the games you (the parent) purchase and don't need to buy it twice. More information

You will be able to share the following content with anyone who signs into your Xbox:
