One Method to Overcome the "Can't Download Game" Issue (like Bioshock!)

Okay, I don't know why this worked, but I was able to overcome Bioshock's stubborn "Can't Download" issue. For those of you who have tried everything to overcome the issue with this or any other game, give this method a try. You have to follow the steps
EXACTLY. Any deviation and it won't work. Why? I don't know.

Note this method assumes the "Can't Download" issue is an inexplicable issue and not related to anything like region zones and all that stuff.

First, and foremost, clearing the cache doesn't seem to affect whether or not this works. It certainly didn't help when I did, and I've overcome this issue before without doing that step.

-Delete the games from your 360's hard drive if there are bits of the file there.

-Run the Network Check. This is a trick people often do to make sure their NAT is open. This will log you out. Why does this step matter? I dunno, but it's part of what I did.

-Turn OFF your 360.

-Turn OFF your modem and router.

>>If you delete the files from your 360 and THEN download them, IT WILL NOT WORK. If you turn off your modem while the 360 is still on, and then turn it back on and then log in, IT WILL NOT WORK. Actually, I've found the 360 generally has trouble detecting
anything if you suddenly lose power to your modem, turn the modem back on, then relog. Yes, you will have restored your internet connection, but the 360 won't detect it until you restart the system.

-Turn ON your modem. Wait for it to power up fully. Give it a minute. Don't just jump to the next step.

-Turn ON your 360.

-Download ONE of the troublesome games, and only that ONE game by itself. Do NOT download with anything else. If you do, you will get the Can't Download message and have to start all over again. If you queue up two troublesome games together, you'll get
the message for both.

-When the game is finished downloading, RESTART your 360 and THEN you can download the rest of your troublesome games (one at a time, of course).

By following the above steps exactly, I was able to download Bioshock and Arcania, two games that constantly gave me "Can't Download" messages despite following all of the usual troubleshooting steps and other methods people have listed at this website.

I've actually used this method before with a completely different internet provider with far worse internet quality (I just assumed I got lucky), so clearly net speed and quality is not part of the issue if it's good enough in the first place.

Yes but Bioshock 1 doesn't have multiplayer and as all Gaming company executives know that long term gamers don't is that MP instantly makes a game 10x better than one without it.

Until they shut the servers down... Actually, not even then. Give me a deep one player experience. 98% of the time, I can't stand online multiplayer. It's just a cheap, easy way to make players think they're getting a better (or more) game. Maybe that's
why Bioshock is not only considered superior to Bioshock 2, but still sells for more?

 

Followed all the steps but didn't work. Apparently it's a problem with 2K games.

 

I was told the Bioshock download was a 2K problem by Microsoft Support and 2K have said it is a problem with xBox. Neither seems to know/care what the problem is. I don't understand how neither of them can know about an error lots of people have encountered.
