One guide issue with xfinity cable.

If your Xfinity Flex or X1 is displaying a black screen, then there's some possibility that your Xfinity Flex or TV is having some fault in cable connections. Earlier, there were cases where users encountered black screen issues due to the frayed, damaged or torn wire. So, try to check all your cables that are connected to your Xfinity Flex or X1 and TV.

If you've found any torn, damaged or frayed cable, we suggest you replace that cable with the new one and connect it securely to your devices. After this, turn on your devices and check if this resolves the black screen issue.

Also, ensure that all the cable connections are tightly connected to your devices. Check all the cables separately.

Old thread, but I just went through this pain today, after moving states. Directv box had no issues, but the Xfinity X1 box, oh boy!!

1) Reset your TV settings through the TV/One guide in the settings.

2) Go through the setup again.

3) Choose Comcast as the provider.

4) Xfinity as the cable box brand.

5) The command will fail at least 4 times for power.

6) Select skip, then use the manual setup and type "X1".

This should work from this point forward.

regarding DVR. You can not hit the record option from the xfinity guide with out using the cable remote. You should be able to look ahead at a show and click on it and record it like the cable box does. Nope, have to grab the darn remote. I know you
were speaking of gaming DVR and cable box DVR is different.
