I'm having intermittent issues with audio in OneGuide. The details...

I have a set-top box from AT&T UVERSE connected to the HDMI-IN port on my XBOX One-X.

I open OneGuide to access the video-out of the UVERSE box and that is all. I use the remote from the UVERSE box to change channels and whatever else. I do not use OneGuide to change channels, although that does work if I wanted to.

Sometimes, after playing a game and switching back to OneGuide, the video plays but the audio is missing. Even the sounds in the DVR's menu are absent.

I have tried many different ways of fixing this. I have restarted the AT&T set-top box. I have powered down the set-top box and the XBOX, but the most reliable method I have found is this...

Make sure video is playing on the set-top box.

Perform a restart on the XBOX.

After the restart, open OneGuide while the video from the set-top box is actively playing (see step 1)

I thought perhaps OneGuide lost the HDMI synchronization after a period of time and needed to be reinitialized. I tried force-stopping OneGuide using the (X) menu, scrolling to OneGuide, opening the options, and selecting "X Quit" from the "App options" menu. However, that doesn't work.

Evidently, the driver that handles the HDMI-IN stream is external to the OneGuide app and can only be restarted by restarting the XBOX itself.

I have tried this without video actively playing on the set-top box and that works sometimes, but not every time. So it seems like the HDMI driver needs active audio from that HDMI-IN port at the time of initialization.

It is rather annoying to have to restart the entire XBOX, just to switch over to watching TV after gaming for a while.

That documentation doesn't help me at all. I already have things set up. I've been using this feature for years. Way back on my XBOX 360 even.

The HDMI-IN signal works fine when it works. But as I explained, after changing focus to a game and then coming back to OneGuide, sometimes the XBOX won't sync up with the incoming signal.

I'm pretty sure I explained this in detail already. This is a BUG and I'm trying to report the problem.

Could also possibly be the HDMI cable, my cable worked perfectly fine from my Xbox to my monitor for a long time, then one day it became very intermittent, and then just stopped HDR completely.

Possibly try replacing the cable too.

there are two different settings.

One is under TV & One Guide

The other is under Display and Sound

If your PC supports it, then its just xbox settings to adjust....

hdmi audio needs to be set to 7.1

If audio is going into a receiver via hdmi out from the xbox one

If its audio out via S/pdif then your Optical audio should be bitstream, dts or whatever makes sense for your equipment
