Yes, all Xbox console updates are official. There is no way to install any update that is not official from Xbox, nor is it possible to receive an unofficial update from the Update option in the console's settings.

Recently, I checked if there was any update available, and just like you, a new update appeared to me.

Update to this- the update has repeatedly got stuck and is only on 18% should I just wait because this has happened before and i doesn't do anything

Sadly it has not helped. It gives me an error code but when i input it in the search it comes up with something wrong for the xbox 360. Theres not much I can do.

What's the error code?

Are the updates for X360 games? Or both XB1 and 360?

Check your settings for automatic updates because after recent OS update a lot of my X360 games BC got updates and they take awhile, not to mention +GB for RDR2 and others.

But there is apparently an update released generally, so just go to your Xbox settings>system and see if there's an update waiting. If not, do what @D3M0MAN said above and you'll be fixed.
