    I am using Windows 11 and an Xbox One controller. For a few weeks now, I have had the problem, that the controller would stop being recognized by the system.

    The symptoms of that are

    • Controller inputs are no longer received by any software.
    • Device manager still recognizes the controller as plugged in.
    • The controller's hardware indicator lights still appear normal, as if it should work.
    • The controller is unable to connect to the wireless USB thing.

    The problem has gotten worse now, because instead of happening occasionally and being a nuisance, it now happens every time I connect a controller, after around one to fifteen minutes of normal functionality, and then stays. The problem is not specific to the controller either. I have tried using a wired, and a wireless Xbox 360 controller instead, and both have the same problem as well.

    I have also tried

    • Updating Windows
    • Restarting the computer
    • Updating controller drivers
    • Updating controller firmware
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling controller drivers
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox app and Xbox Accessories app
    • Plugging the controller cable into different USB ports
    • Using different USB cables
    none of which solved the problem.

    I generally use my controller plugged in with the USB cable.

    At this point I consider myself clueless. What could cause this issue?

    In the MCC for pc, my dad has xbox game pass ultimate and I am able to get other games and add-ons to work, but when i try to go and play a campaign, it says the DLC is not installed.

    ive heard upgrading to windows 11 fixes it, but my problem with windows 11 is that all of my other games run terribly (extreme lag) because they havent been configured to windows 11 yet. So if that is really a fix, then i dont want that one. All my games run fine normally on windows 10, but they just dont like windows 11 or something

    I'm on Windows 11, and yes, I keep my controller up to date with that app, but it didn't really help. I had no issues with the previous controller model, just this one.

    If your controller isn't working on other PC running Windows 11 it tells me something is wrong with your controller.

    There aren't any compatibility issues with older Xbox 360 controllers and Windows 11. I've just tried my old Xbox 360 wired controller in my brand new Windows 11 based PC and it works fine. The fact that it isn't working now is likely coincidental.
