On my pc, in the Xbox App I paused my Forza Horizon 5 download and now it's stuck

All of my Microsoft and Xbox games are downloaded on my external drive including the previous Horizon, which is Forza Horizon 4. I changed where new apps are stored when downloaded from the Microsoft store to my external drive but it still wont download Forza Horizon 5 to my external drive. On the Xbox app it wont show my external drive as an option to download to. I am able to download any game from the Microsoft store and Xbox app to my external drive except Forza Horizon 5.

To answer your questions, yes I did encounter an error when the issue happened, however I am unable to get a screenshot of it

I also simply cannot uninstall or reinstall the game because when I try to uninstall the game from the Xbox App it will remove itself from the downloads page, but it will stay on the side bar that shows all the games. When I went to look at all the apps I have downloaded onto my pc I was able to uninstall Forza Horizon 5, however it was still being shown in the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store

This is the only game that I am experiencing this problem with, all other games I have attempted to download I have been able to pause, un-pause, cancel and uninstall, Forza Horizon 5 is the only game experiencing this issue

The download is stuck in the Xbox App only, but when I try and install or uninstall the game on the Microsoft Store it will re-direct me to the Xbox App no matter what I do.

When I search Forza Horizon 5 on both the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store it only shows that I can download the standard edition of the game

when I tried your troubleshooting steps it didn't end up working, however I did realise something. When I log out of the Xbox App I still have access to the games I have downloaded/ am downloading even after uninstalling the Xbox App

Also this is a side note I should have added into my post, but I am operating on windows 11 not 10

1. Downloaded all of them from the store as you instructed, speed was fine.

2. These are my app versions

2211.1001.24.0

8.71.12001.0 (Servizi giochi) (translates to Game Services)

5.822.10271.0 (Xbox Game Bar)

3. Done, title of the feedback is "[Xbox Forum] Slow download speed Forza Horizon 5 on PC"

I will be removing the few downloaded GBs of Forza Horizon 5 from my PC as the game is unplayable since I still can't finish the download.

Unfortunately my interest dropped and I will no longer be downloading the game.

Hope that this thread and any potential solution after my feedback could help the community.

Thanks for the response, it seems to force me to download "Forza Horizon 4" first. When I click pause it's download and then try to start download on "Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition" it stays at "Downloading" and starts Downloading process of "Forza Horizon 4". I also tried logging into my account on different computer which worked.

We believe you might have covered everything for basic troubleshooting based on what you have in the posted in here. We would like to know few details before this issue happen.

To confirm, did you encounter any error message when this issue happen? Please post a screenshot and conceal your personal information.

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the game or it simply not showing yet on Windows Start Menu?

Is this the only game stuck in downloading or you have other updates stuck?

To confirm the download was stuck in Xbox app or Microsoft Store?

Please recheck if you can search back the Forza Horizon 5 on the store and see if you have two apps downloading (Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition | Xbox and Forza Horizon 5 | Xbox).

In that case, what I can recommend to you is to perform the troubleshooting steps below in chronological order.

Keep these updated: PC and Xbox apps(Xbox app/Xbox Console Companion, Xbox Accessories, Xbox Game Bar, Gaming Services).

Get updates for apps and games in Microsoft Store

Update Windows

Restart device to make sure all updates are installed.

Turn off or disable any antivirus, antimalware, VPN, firewall and PC Optimizer.

Sign into your account (with Game Pass) in here, make sure you know your password very well - Microsoft account | Home.

Sign out to Microsoft Store and Xbox apps. After, please go to PC Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts and check if your account (with Game Pass) is added in there. Sign in back to your account.

Re-try to download Forza Horizon 5.
