If you are running Vista you would need to upgrade to Windows 10. Your laptop may be too old for Windows 10, or even under 10 not be powerful enough to play the play anywhere titles.

Here are the absolute minimums Microsoft required when 10 first released, these may have changed.

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC

RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit

Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS

Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver

Display: 1024x600

There is no way to upgrade from Vista to 10, you would need to purchase a full version of Windows (if your laptop meets or exceeds the above minimums)

Given the likely age of your laptop it would be a better investment to purchase more recent hardware.

The new pc would need windows professional or higher

Bitlocker is only available on non windows home pc

But not professional my guess is your laptop was a business laptop

Your only option would.be upgrade your windows to pro

I have a windows 7 laptop but upgraded its software to windows 10

To illustrate a point, everyone knows how terrible Windows Vista was. My old laptop use to have Windows Vista. I installed Windows 7 on it, and the hardware was at least 2x faster and got much better performance. Start up and shutdown was far more quicker.
Far less memory hogging in Windows 7's task manager than Windows Vista. I'm not saying that the 3 OS's on Xbox 1 (Xbox OS, Windows kernel, hypervisor) are bad. But it does need improving. Say you could have Windows Vista on a PC with an Intel Core i5 of i7
processor. It's still going to give poor performance because of the software/OS than if you have Windows 7 or better on it.

It appears this system is not certified compatible with Windows 10. All the drivers pre-date Windows 10.

As future Windows 10 feature updates are released it will introduce an incompatibility with older devices and PC's. Certain components will not support these changes as observed by some users not seeing transparency anymore. Recommendations include: rollback,
block the upgrade or consider upgrading components in your system such as graphics, storage, BIOS, motherboard or purchase a new Windows 10 PC.
