Old or New Saints Row?

Soooooo, a new stand alone expansion pack is coming out next year in January. It's called, "Gat out of hell" and it looks even crazier than the original SR4 game. I'm looking forward to playing it, but I'm sure the rest of you have different opinions on
it. I never played SR1,2 or 3. To me the older games looked like a cheap rip off from GTA. I personally think SR4 is a huge step up and has a lot more going for it now than before.

What do you guys think?

Free roam multiplayer

I know this game is old but me and my mates want a new game to play we was wondering does this saints row have 4+ multiplayer free roam as the new one doesnt

 

Game companies producing cheap garbage

COD MW3 - same old stuff nothing new, Black ops had better maps. Yawn.

Saints Row 3 - no multiplayer!! What??? Map is a lot smaller than 2.

New Halo - Lets re-do the 1st halo because we can't think of anything else.

These game companies are just putting out anything that has a name. Saints Row had some really innovating stuff, but not multi-player. I'm so pissed.

 

I think SR3 & 4 is leaps and bounds ahead of GTA in the fun factor. Forgive my rude sense of humor, but there's something fun about punching a gangbanger in the jewels, and beating him unconscious with a 'personal massager'. Super amped for Gat out of Hell.
Dunno if it's gonna be worth 30$ though =/

 

Im playing through sr3 at the moment I love the humour GTA takes itself too seriously

 

After watching a demo of it and reading about it, I must say it looks excellent, I've played all saints row games from the first and while I liked the first ones, the later ones, especially 4, was so fun, to me its more about the enjoyable side rather than
the realistic side

 

I played the first three games and the gradually get more crazy and fun as you go on. I hear SR4 is as crazy and random as you get, so that's something I'm into. I will be picking 4 up at some point. Anyways, the first two Saints Rows were simple GTA clones
with some random fun humor here and there, three is where it started to get more random, and included zombies and some other stuff. Just became less realistic is what I'm saying. I think all of them are worth playing.

 

I think it will be a new twist on a classic series everyone got made at sr3 but I couldn't see why sr4 on the other hand I can see but over all I think it will fit in to the over the top half of the franchise

 

I didn't like the first game, it really did feel like a GTA rip-off.

Saints Row 2 is where it found its own identity and the range of character and customisation options was incredible. The story could change between whacked out fun and quite serious at the drop of a hat. The controls were the only sticking point for me,
they never quite felt right.

The best game of the series for me was the third title. You lost some customisation but the controls were so much better. The story got even sillier, with the Saints talking on a military group, and zombies. Yet it maintained a dark streak that kept the
game somewhat grounded.

Four was a mixed bag for me. The story was fun but the super-powers overwhelmed the weapons and vehicles, you reach a point quite early on when you really don't need to use them any longer.

 

Yeah SR1 and to a lesser extent 2 were too GTA to be lovable. Some of the more brutal cutscenes of 1 & 2 would make the Boss appear maligned and psychotic as opposed to carefree and having a good time, which s/he does in The Third and IV regardless of whether
the task at hand is 'flying a tank' or riding a nuclear missile.

My problem with GTA has always been with its protagonists. I never like them. CJ was all right, but... nah, even he... They're all mopey, boring a-holes, with turd motivations and thankless attitudes. Saints Row let's you create a fun-loving, adrenaline-addicted
boss whose motivation is having fun and being the boss. Even if you make him/her with the voice of a zombie. lol

Saints Row: The Third is easily my favourite, and I'd recommend that over IV as an introduction to the franchise, because IV is really a huge The Third expansion. (But still a huge and worth-every-penny, extremely fun standalone AAA title.) As Tater said
the series came into its own at Third and IV and I too am pumped for GAT out of Hell.

I'm kind of hoping SR V will be a Saints in Time deal. (The credits of IV.) Have them do the tired old time travel malfunction, jumpimg from period to period and Saints-ing around in interesting free roam environments against interesting 'gangs'.

1 and 2 are the best Saints, not really a fan of the new super hero route...

 

Saint's Row 2 is easily my favorite of them all. I love Saints 3 as well which was pretty wacky but it was stripped of a lot of things that made Saint's 2 so popular like Fight Club,Septic Avenger,Character fighting style etc. and most of the 'story' missions
in Saint's 3 were activity's in Saint's 2. I love the character look better in the newer saint's games though but outfit customization has been stripped as well.
