Old Gamertag appears above new one?

So I recently changed my gamertag, paid the £7.99 which has processed out of my bank but my old gamertag still appears above my new one?

I did this 12 days ago so surely a multi billion $ company like Microsoft wouldn't still be updating something as simple as a name change?

I may have also pressed on customize classic gamertag when trying to change it do you think contacting support would be able to give me a free change?

It can be for a couple of different reasons. Sometimes it'll do that while the servers take time to update. It'll also keep your old tag if you used special characters.

Hello Charlz, after the Gamertag is changed it can still take more than 72 hours or more to be updated in all Microsoft and developer databases.

So it's normal for your old Gamertag to still appear, but after that it will disappear and only the new one will be displayed.

Hi, after the gamertag change your old gt will remain available for some days in order to be recognizable by your friends, you can see your new gamertag together with the old one in your account. If you wait some days it should appear only the new one.
