Old Forza Horizon 5 account not loading when game downloaded on steam

When the game first came out a while ago, me and my friends all got the 3 month free trial of the xbox game pass.

With this pass we started playing forza horizon 5, me included ofcourse.

But now I have bought the game on steam (where I like to keep as many games as possible as it makes them easier to manage), thinking I can link my old save to my steam account, and I have been reading everywhere that it shouldnt be a problem, but the old save is not loading. The game does recognise my old achievements, but it does not load any other progress I have made in the time I have played it before.

Things I have made sure to do

Logged in to the same account, with no changes made to is since quitting the game before

I have played through the intro (I believe)

I apologize but according to Forza Support themselves: “ Forza Horizon 5 will support cross-play and cross-save across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Steam will have support for cross-play, but cross-save with Xbox is not supported.

Your save file which includes progress and in game items on Steam is completely unique and separate from any pre-existing save file that’s associated with your Xbox Live gamertag. This includes user generated content like liveries. layer groups, etc.”

I found the fix...

When u open forza horizon 5 standard edition page scroll down where you see forza horizon 5 game and download that...

The download will start

I downloaded the Forza 5 for the first time via Microsoft Store, i played and i deleted the game. (I played with gamepass)

I bought Forza 5 from Steam and i linked my xbox account with steam, but when i start the game and logged in with my xbox account, my all progress is gone.

Thank you for your response. If you want to play the game Forza Horizon 5 on the Xbox app, you will need to purchase the Xbox game version on the Microsoft Store:

Since you have purchased the game on Steam, you can only play it on the Steam Launcher. You won't be able to find your Steam games on the Xbox app library as they have their respective launchers.

Remember that Steam and Xbox PC are 2 different gaming clients.

This is what helped me and got Forza to download.
1. Go into the Microsoft Store and search Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition.
2. Next you want to click on Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition and you want to click Install from the Xbox app.
3. This will take you to the Xbox app and when it takes you to the Forza game scroll down and look at the tab named "Included in this bundle" And click Forza Horizon 5.
4. This should take you to the regular Forza Horizon 5 game rather than the Standard Edition, And then you want to click install and this should download the game.
