Old 360 owner wanting to come back

Hello everyone,

Used to be a very regular member on here from 2007 until 2010, then went to PS3 and came back a year later but this site changed so much.

Anyway I stayed with the 360 from 2011 until 2012 and then went back to PS3. Now I've been back on PS3 since 2012 and recently I've had a massive problem.

To this day I always preferred the 360 exclusives to PS3, but then again I didn't go because of the games, I went because I was so sick of adverts *breathes into ASDA bag as its difficult to find a brown paper bag in the UK*.

Anyway. Recently I've played the GOTYy versions of Fallout 3 and New Vegas on the PS3. Trust me when I say they're a massive let down when compared to the 360 versions. They're truly broken, and whilst I was glad to get the 100% trophy completion, I was
gutted that the game could take no more. On the 360 these games truly are the meaning of open world RPG's. You end the game when you want to end it, not when the credits roll.

Then yesterday I got that amazing urge to play Oblivion. Ahh Oblivion. The 2nd game I got the 1K on back in 2008 and still played for near 200 hours. Then today I started playing the GOTY Dragon Age Origins on PS3. First off the Return to Ostagar DLC is
missing off the disc so you need to buy it, yet for some reason most of the other DLC is free (confuseling indeedy..... and yeah I meant to say confuseling. Its adorable and itchy ....... ). Then you play the game and its so bloody choppy.

Now I think everyone knows the PS3 was the superior hardware but with average games. Where as the 360 was the advert box but with amazing games... that bloody worked!

So all I wanna ask is this. Even though the new consoles are out, neither take my fancy as neither have anything to offer. I'm also getting older and the slower paced games suit me to the ground. So do you reckon it would be the groovy choice to go get a
360 tomorrow? The only thing I'm thinking is that I have the PS3 with 35 retail games. I'm wondering if I should trade and save loads of cash, or for the first time ever as being a gamer... own both consoles at the same time.

43 here and wanting to play a back log of older Xbox 360 games online both in coop and mper.

 

XB1 owner wanting to download 360 GWG

i want to take advantage of this months 360 GWG Gears of War 3 so I have it ready should it become one of the backward compatibility games later.

I never bought a 360, and in fact the XB1 is my first Xbox console, and none of my friends have a 360 either, but I do have a full Gold Membership.

i was hoping I would be able to purchase the game and then download it to my XB1 if it does become BC.

When I try to buy the game a pop up appears tlelling me that I have to log in to my 360 and do it from there so it can check if it's compatible.

Has anybody else come across this before? If you have did you manage to find a workaround? Or is it just not possible for XB1 owners to get the 360 GWG?

I still own both xbox 360 and ps3, i am in total denial that any new consoles have been released.

Unless you are desperate for money, i would keep your ps3 and get a 360.

Games are only going to get cheaper from here on in, why not have the best of both worlds.

 

It is probably the best time to get a 360, so many great cheap games you could keep yourself entertained forever!

I'd keep the other console, but I keep all consoles anyway.

 

Bethesda really didn't know what they where doing on the PS3. Fallout 3 got me playing the 360 more tbh. Anyway OP, everything on the 360 is quite cheap now, allot of good games. Rather then "coming Back" Why don't you just play both?

 

I am still hooked on my 360. Its like...If i get one of the next gen consoles tomorrow, what happens to this huge investment i made in the previous gen?

 

The same thing that happened to my investment, it sits there ready for me to play when I want.....

Sorry one more question.

As I've been away for some time. Has there been any great exclusives that I may have missed. I left around the time when Gears of War went blonde.

I used to be all about the single player games only. I think from now on I will just get any game that I want and if it has MP Achievements then I will just simply leave them locked.

Used to be a completionist but it actually makes no sense. Still love the trophy/achievement system for what it is, but I supposeI'm just not that bothered any more.

Anyway my delivery just arrived so I better go gym for a bit. After that I'll hopefully get down to Grainger Games, as they have the 360 with a 500GB for £199 with a copy of FIFA 15. Do you reckon thats worth it, or should I go GAME and get the bundle for
£219.99 with a copy of FIFA and a game of choice which includes Wolfenstein?

And just checked Amazon for Oblivion GOTY and its out of bloody stock lol.

 

Get both. The 360 is cheap now, and you can pick up one with a few games, often less than 100 bucks. Depending on where you buy it, but i have found no such luck when trying to purchase a PS3. Go figure!

 

I went gym and now I'm too knackered to go anywhere lol.

Here's what I'm going to do though. I get paid next month and then hopefully Amazon will have some copies of Oblivion 5th Anniversary in stock. If I have that the moment where I unbox a fresh smelling new 360, then I play a new copy of Oblivion. My money
will have felt wisely spent even if I have another console already.

At the moment though the game shops have next to no games in aside from 50 copies of whatever kack was released at weekend. This is why I only buy games from Amazon, because they're 90% of the time new copies or pre-owned thats been cleaned up.

I've also heard that the PS4 will be releasing a newer model with a bigger hard drive. No matter what, I will then trade the PS3 and all its games towards that.

 

I`m still on 360 and can`t see me going to One anytime in the near future. So personally I`d say to definitely get another 360.

And pick up Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3 with it. There`s 150 hours of single player excellence to get you back into the swing of things.

 

I agree with all these guys. I have and love my 360, PS3 and a Wii and wouldn't let any of them go. You can find a 360 cheap cheap cheap these days and usually bundled with a few sweet games without having to sell your PS3.

All these consoles keep me easily occupied while next gen builds up the game base.

 

You probably would have gotten some silly answers 6 months to a year ago, which has made me think that things have changed a little around here.
