Official Xbox Headphones and Series S Disconnect

My brand new (official MS) Xbox headphones are constantly either cutting out or disconnecting completely, almost reliably during cut scenes and/or character dialogue.

I originally owned these headphones when they first came out and returned them due to this issue. Additionally, I’ve had my Xbox series S serviced and replaced since them. So across 2 different consoles and 2 sets of headphones (and 6 months of time), I’m still having the same exact issue.

I’ve tried to disconnect and restart both devices as the troubleshooting guide mentions, but no luck.

There is a large scattering of reports of this across the internet and across the forums, but there seems to be no official response from MS? Any official support agents have an update on this or can confirm MS knows about the issue? It’s not on the “known issues” thread for some reason. Thanks.

Hi there welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. Have you tried the following? 1. Turn off your Xbox using the power button on the console.

2. Once your Xbox has completely powered down, unplug the power cord from the back of the console. Don't simply unplug the cord from the wall's electrical socket — it must be disconnected from your Xbox.

3. Wait for 5 minutes, and then reconnect the power cord to both the Xbox console and the electrical socket.

4. Let another minute pass.

The 3.5mm headphone jack on Xbox One/Series X|S controllers (including Elite controllers) does not work when connected via Bluetooth. It will only work via USB or the official Xbox wireless adaptor.

The Series X controllers available now uses the same official battery packs as the Xbox One and Series S controllers.

Oh, sorry for the confusion, and as I have checked, there is no official announcement from Microsoft. Personally, I own an Xbox Series S, from Xbox One S I purchased the Xbox Series S and so far, everything is working perfect for me.

Yes, as described (Power Reset).

I'm not using an adapter, but connecting directly to input P2 (bottom left).

On another Xbox Series S from a friend, my headphones worked.
