This is the most tedious of the guilds as towards the end you have to do a lot of little steal / fetch quests before you can continue.

It reminds me a lot of the Mages Guild from Oblivion. Less about the actual purpose of the guild (magic or thievery) and more about pointless fetch quests in dark caves. Mages Guild quest line was so boring.

My biggest issue with the guild though is that killing on the job isn't enforced. I've killed half a dozen guards while doing quests and I've not been kicked out. That would happen in Oblivion.

Haven't started it yet, but I hope the Dark Brotherhood quest line is as fun as the Oblivion one was.

[/quote]It's pretty hard to "do it wrong" whenever it's not my fault at all that the quests are as short as they are compared to Oblivion. It doesn't take me very long to go through a game. It's not like I hate the game (In fact I still think it's GOTY worthy),
it's just the quests shouldn't have gone from 12+ per guild in Oblivion to only about 5 quests per guild. That is why I'm disappointed.

thats the point of oblivion side quests, they are actually side quest lines and not cheap things like in say, mass effect. you treat them as entirely new story lines, you join the mages guild and you treat it like it is a separate main story.

Unfortunately you won't be able to finish this quest unless you can find the ring and pick it up to register the quest update.

I would suggest just holding off on the Mages Guild for now since you won't be able to finish your recommendations. You can always create a new game to complete the Mages Guild if you want to get all the achievements. So, all hope is not lost. It just won't
be on the same save.
