    Oblivion Crashing while Cloud Gaming


    I've been playing Oblivion on GamePass Cloud (so streaming, not installed) and it was working fine for over a week, until it suddenly has been crashing. At this moment, I can't enter any loading screen without it crashing, with the message "Disconnected from cloud gaming session. The game closed unexpectedly."

    This occurs on both of the Windows 11 machines I've tried using via the Xbox App, as well as on my Steam Deck in-browser (each of these devices have at least 16GB of RAM, with different graphics cards and CPUs). It doesn't happen for any other games (so far) and I've tried using multiple networks, all at over 100mbps.

    I would like to continue playing the game, or at least back up my save file offline if I can't get it to work through the cloud.

    I've attached a screenshot of the error message. I have a video, as well - please let me know how I can share that if you want it.

    I had the same thing with Oblivion few years ago… My Xbox 360 crashed and when i restarted the game, my save was no more there… i lost all, i was almost at the end… Nothing to do than get my courage to restart the game from 0. Now i Always enable the cloud
    save...

    I suggest you to let your console always connected on internet to avoid this in the future.

    Skyrim??

    Well "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" starts with an "E", while "The Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion" starts with a "T". Simply put, the games are not referred to as Oblivion and Skyrim in the listings.

    It is pretty bad in both games, but while Skyrim's Glass wrecks Oblivion's, Oblivion's Amber annihilates most of what I've seen in Skyrim.

    Oh, BTW, I've tried skipping the update and staying offline. This results in a crash and green screen of death several days later and while you are offline your games don't cloud save. I lost five days of Skyrim this way.
