If your data was also lost from the Cloud Storage then something may have corrupted the file and it potentially may be permanently lost. Have you tried removing and re-adding your account to the Xbox App?

It also may be that you were not connected to Xbox Live when you made progress because the Cloud storage only updates when you're connected to Xbox Live. From the Xbox app go to Settings and then slide over to the Network tab and make sure everything is
connected there.

A possibility might be that your Xbox cloud storage for clips and videos are full, and I would recommend going through historical captures you've made and delete the old ones that you don't need or want anymore. After you free up some of that space, the app should stop deleting your oldest screenshots.
