Nothing happening upon changing Gamertag

I've been having this issue for a while now.

I recently became active in Sea of Thieves once again and saw that the Gamertag system got a major update. It supposedly grants me a free tag change so hell yeah, I say, I finally get to have the pirate name I always wanted displayed!

Thing is, everything works out like a charm. I go to social.xbox.com/changegamertag, enter my future tag, hit check, it says that everything is okay, I confirm once more, then... nothing. Nothing happens. The little "are you sure"-message closes, but other
than that instead of seeing any change to the tag or any kind of error message I just sit there, staring at the buttons to change the tag once more.

This is the same for every browser on my PC, every browser on my Surface as well as on my phone. It's driving me especially mad since others I'm sailing with were able to change it just like that.

I already contacted support about it, the dude was nice but not exactly helpful and forwarded it to the back-end staff. Haven't heard from them since and I also have no clue what the number of the ticket that got opened is because I'm
[Mod Removed] and unable to operate my mail account properly, apparently.

Guess I'll contact support once more tomorrow, but for the love of god, what the heck is the mistake here?

I've tried changing it every day for the last 5 days or so. Whenever I test out things that would be against the requirements, the site tells me so, implying that my chosen tag should check out. I don't know what else to try at this point.

A lot of times it could be that the name that you chose my be offensive or might be on a list of offensive words. Have you checked to see if someone else has that gamer tag?

Hello, the problem may be the name itself. Isn't it in the forbidden words in a country or even an insult? That could explain that.

My previous issues with a gamertag change is that it takes a few hours or days to change in the system. If this proceeds to happen, change the gamertag at https://www.xbox.com/en-US/ .

Not a bad idea, but I use exactly 12 characters. I tried adding one more and the system can determine that the name is no longer valid. I also tried adding illegitimate symbols and the system correctly denied the change. What strikes me as odd is the complete
lack of feedback. No error, no message. It should technically work.
