Not sure if drive or console

According to your description, your problem is that your external device cannot be detected.



You can try the following to check your device:

Solution 1: Make sure you have the latest updates for Xbox installed

Your Xbox console may already have a recent update and you need to manually update the system so that it can detect the external storage. To update, do the following:

1. Press the "Xbox" button at  to open the navigation page, and then select Profile & System > Settings > System > Xbox > System > Xbox > Xbox > Xbox > Xbox > Xbox. "System > Update.

2. If you see "Updates Available", there is an update that needs to be installed.

3. After installing the update, go back to Settings and select System > Storage Devices. See if the device appears in this list.



Solution 2: If in sleep mode, adjust the storage's power management

Check the power settings. If in sleep mode:

1. Press the "Xbox" button  to open the navigation page.

2. Select Profile & System > Settings > General > Power Options.

3. Make sure the power mode is set to "Sleep".

4. Uncheck the "Turn off storage when Xbox shuts down" option.

5. Restart your Xbox, then go back to Settings and select System > Storage to see if your device is now listed.

Try removing and re-attaching then hard drive. Make sure console is disconnected from the power supply first.

If that doesnt work then there could be a fault with the hard drive or the 360.

You could see if the hard drive works in a friends console but im not sure if using a faulty hard drive in a friends console could cause damage to it. So Maybe wait for other suggestions before doing that

I haven’t had an external hard drive plugged in to my console for a while, but that has happened to me in the past. Make sure to power down the console by holding the power button for 10 seconds, make sure the hard drive is not plugged in and then restart
the system. Once everything boots up, then plug the hard drive back in and see if that works.

- Check Xbox Live Status: Make sure Xbox Live services are working properly,
- Check your hard drive space: Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to install the game
- Update your console: Make sure your Xbox One console is updated to the latest version

If you have reset the console, try these steps.

The only thing I can think of is the reason you added a new hard drive. Turn off the console and take the hard drive out then turn the console back on and then put the hard drive back in. Make sure it's in firmly.
