    Not pre installing starfield error 0x800706ba


    I've been trying over and over to try and pre install starfield for days now. In the Xbox app at the bottom it says Installing Gaming Services failed with error 0x800706bss. On the left it says gaming service is required to download. If i click on it, it says installing at the bottom then rinse and repeat it comes up with the error code again.

    Windows is up to date

    Drivers are up to date

    I've tried restating the Xbox app multiple times

    I've followed all of the troubleshooting issues

    I have enough space on my M.2 SSD for any install and the full game

    I've tried the gaming service tool (beta) with this result

    This error code indicates the inability of windows to access a secure systems and assign encryption keys.

    Are your hard drives formatted NTFS? Do you have the Xbox gaming folder on the hard drive you're trying to download to?

    Thank you for the reply, it is greatly appreciated.

    Yes my hard drive is formatted NTFS. My os is running from my C: and I'm hoping to pre install starfield on my E: which is an M.2 nvme which works perfectly. I kept trying everything and freshly installed windows.

    I've removed the Xbox gaming app completely again as I'm currently going through all of the troubleshooting steps provided on the help page again. Now the Xbox gaming app only installs to a third of the progress and just stops. It does not give me an option for install location when trying to install the app.

    I was having the same issue for a couple days and I tried everything it recommended and everything I could think of to get it to work. After days of trying to get it to install on my D drive I decided to clear some space on my C drive and try it. It worked instantly with no problems. I have a feeling there is something on their end preventing this game from being pre-installed on an external drive. Hopefully this helps even though I know it's not where you wanted to install the game.

    Ok, I think I figured out the issue. I first pre-installed just the game titled "Starfield" last week. When I kept trying to pre-install that version it keeps failing. When I did a search in the XBOX app on my PC for Starfield, it showed all the editions and also the one titled "Starfield" that I was trying to install. When I looked at the "Starfield Standard Edition" it also showed pre-install now (I'm a gamepass premium subscriber) so I tried that one and it is installing now. So far no errors. The weird thing is when I go back and look at the one just titled Starfield and it also shows as downloading. I think that particular download link is broken.
