    If i own a physical copy of a game, why do i have to purchase a digital copy separately?

    To clarify, i own a physical copy (disc) of an Xbox one game but i want to play that game on my windows 10 pc.

    If i "stream" the xbox to the pc there is terrible lag, even with a wired connection.

    The lag is so bad it makes the game unplayable on any serious level.

    But my windows 10 pc can't use xbox discs so if i want to actually play the game on a higher difficulty or with any modicum of skill, i have to spend extra money to purchase a digital copy of a game i already own because the lag of streaming from one device to the other is so horrible.

    Why is this? Why doesn't my Microsoft account register the fact that i already own this game and allow me to download a digital copy without spending extra money on something i already own.

    Windows 10 and Xbox One are both Microsoft products, so why can't there be this (not unreasonable) level of interchange between different Microsoft products?

    Because it's not CODE compatible

    They are designed for xbox one or series x or s hardware whicb is a limited amount of hardware

    Pc games are meant tonsuppirt multiple sets of hardware

    Also should.be noted that play anywhere titles are only digital and are NOT the same code

    And no that is only a series x feature ANd still require legal proof of ownership in the case of discs is discs except for playanywhere titles you only own the xbox one copy NOT the pc title

    No platform works thr way you want except for play anywhere or cross buy which still applies to ONLY digital titles

    Xbox one titles are blurays and have security added to it it wouldn't be readable by any dvd drive or bluray you have on pc

    Keep in mind pc doesn't have.blurays games all DVDs it's omly meant for playing movies

    Most games are not published/developed by Microsoft.

    I could go on Steam now and buy some titles from Capcom and Activision for my Windows gaming PC, Microsoft won't see a penny of that transaction, doesn't matter if they're designed for PC and use Windows 10.

    It's a money thing, always has been. It's not Microsoft's fault.

    share games, Xbox Live Gold and content     is only available on the Xbox One. Your children's accounts must own the game in order to play it. We hope this information helps!

    Minecraft cross play from PS4 to Xbox one

    If you have the Bedrock version for PS4 then you would be able to play crossplay between Windows 10, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and mobile.

    Do note that PS4 does not have the ability to access Realms or Servers at the moment. You can only join friends on a world.
