not being able to install and launch certain xbox games

I have the same problem and have followed advice from many different threads here.

A few of them suggest parts of the above.

I cannot complete the first powershell command due to error response

I *can* run "start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN" but this just tells me that gaming services is installed.

However - I do not see evidence of this in regedit.

Anyone from Microsoft reading this - this is incredibly frustrating and it's mad that we have to make registry changes and admin powershell commands to proceed (not that this even worked for me).

I see you've already tried a few things that would normally solve the problem. I also noticed that you don't have admin permission on your account, however, this will be necessary for the game to work.

Please try the solutions below, if you haven't already, I hope it works for you.

*Follow each step in order, even if you've already done it, do it again, please.

Solution 1:

Open RegEdit as an administrator and delete the following Services:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet]

PC reboot

Install gaming service like you would normally

Solution 2:

Go to your windows settings, go to the tab>applications and resources>Search for Gaming Services, click on it, go to advanced options, and tap repair.

Solution 3:

Launch PowerShell as an administrator and enter “get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers”

In the same powershell window, enter "start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN"
