Not able to use Microsoft Account Money to buy XBOX 360 content

Hello,

I have a Xbox one. I used to own a Xbox 360. I have some money in my Microsoft Account balance. I wanted to buy some backwards compatible Xbox 360 game with my Microsoft Account money. But, when I try to buy it from both xbox.com website and XBOX one store,
I only see my credit card as payment option. If I click "Change Payment Option", it shows my other credit card linked to Microsoft account; but no option to select Microsoft Account.

If I try to purchase XBOX one content, I see my Microsoft Account available as a payment option. Can anyone help me with how I can use my Microsoft Account money to buy XBOX 360 game?

Unfortunately you can not.

"You can't use the money in your Microsoft account to purchase content from the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

To resolve this issue, purchase the item on your Xbox 360 console, where you can use your Microsoft account balance to make purchases."

This is a problem with Microsoft, not you. No one is able to buy Xbox 360 content from Marketplace on the Xbox website using the money on your account, because Microsoft have never added that option. When I have asked Xbox support
as to why isn't it available, they just tell me it's coming soon, which I'm not really giving much credence to.

Oddly enough, you can buy Xbox ONE stuff on this site using your account, but not 360 stuff.

 

Sorry to hear it. Currently currency cannot be used via xbox.com. I also do not think that option is available as a payment form for backwards compatible games.

Although, I wish they fix this with all the backward compatible games being purchased more frequently.

Currency has never been allowed to be used Ont he webmarketplace

Only the one webmarketplace can use currency

 

This needs to be fixed it is stupid you can't use the Microsoft money to buy dlc or full games or Xbox gold

 

It wouldn't work on gold because it's not a renewable payment option

Only xbox one titles

The xbox 360 and xbox one webmarketplace are completely different

For currency purchases you must use the xbox 360 console

The xbox one only uses the Web portal for bc titles

 

Xbox one webportsl can be used to buy xbox one titles with currency but to buy the 360 titles you must use the 360 Web portal which only uses creditcards or bankcards

 

Keep in mind the 360 also works differentl and wouldn't be compatie with xbox one any other way them the Web portal

The xbox 360 console marketplace is linked to the account region due to the region locks and cannot be charged on the fly and can only be done every 3months not to mention the game region requirements

The xbox one marketplace is changable as long as you have a valid payment option for the new region

Some 360 games check for.the xbox console.region

Since xbox one is region free it wouldn't work

 

Also the parental settings aren't the same

There is no unrestricted setting on xbox 360

this is and I'm sorry ****! I just went to the store purchased 25 in my Microsoft account to buy an Xbox game XBOX!!!....(MICROSOFT) and it won't allow me to use that....like WTF!
