    Xbox Series X 1440p framerate

    Hi,

High refresh rates on Xbox Series X/S and even on Xbox One S/X provide two functions.

On Series X/S where a game supports a 120 fps mode, a high 120Hz connection facilitates that frame rate. If your display can't do 120Hz, you can't play a 120 FPS supported game. But, there is a possibility that a game may not be able to hit its intended
frame rate all the time and may drop frames. This is where VRR (variable refresh rate) via FreeSync and 120Hz come in by smoothing out the dropped frames and eliminating screen tearing.

But you don't need to change refresh rate to play a game that is locked to 60 fps. You can still keep your refresh and it won't affect your gaming experience. As I stated earlier, you can only get a 120 FPS on games that support that frame rate. The high
refresh will just make the experience smoother. It's up to developers on how their games perform on the console just like the options available in Dirt 5.

While the Series X can do 4K 120Hz with newer HDMI 2.1 displays you won't see many AAA titles doing this as it's way too demanding for the system.

2k with 120hz XBOX ONE X not working with HP X27i

Yes I'm there and the Game is for 2k. So that is not the problem.

My Xbox One X will not accepted the Setting "1440p with 120hz" with my HP X27i Monitor. Do you now that issue ?
With a lot of monitors, the lower the resolution, the higher the refresh rate you can have.

Near as I can tell, that monitor has a native refresh rate at 1440p of 60Hz (that is what it defaults to)...it then uses Variable refresh rate to bump it up higher. As noted above, the EDID fails as the Xbox needs a 120Hz setting to run at 120Hz. The monitor will definitely do 120Hz via HDMI but only on a PC/Laptop it seems.

I can't confirm it but I suspect that the monitor's native RR for 1080p is 120Hz.

This has been an issue for quite a few HP models, both whilst using the One X and also whilst using the newer Series X/S's

Xbox one x 120hz not working.

    1. Navigate to the Settings app on your Xbox One.
    2. Choose the Display & sound tab
    3. Select the Video output tile.
    4. Open the Refresh rate drop-down menu.
    5. Choose 120Hz to increase your refresh rate. (Your console should now output a 120Hz signal.)
That's the steps in the link. It doesnt give me the option for 120hz

    I have a lg 4k tv with hdmi 2.0
That will work fine with Xbox Series X,

However you wont get the 120hz refresh rates at 4K, as that requires to have HDMI 2.1, other than that your TV is fine to use, if your not to bothered about 120hz refresh rates at 4K as an issue for you, there's no need for a new TV.

Xbox one x not displaying 1440/120

    Hi,
I'm going to go ahead and assume you're using the Xbox One X, in which case 120hz is the maximum refresh rate you can run between console and your monitor, although even in 60hz you should have no issues with your refresh rate and anything higher is not
really necessary for optimum picture quality. I would recommend using the 60hz/1440p setting if that option is working/available to you. If you're planning on getting the Xbox Series X then it
might be worth hanging on to your new monitor as it should be able to better utilize the high refresh rates your monitor is capable of but if it means saving a bit of money then its probably a good idea to go with a monitor that can give you 1440p
resolution or higher at a solid 60hz/120hz as anything more than that would only be useful with a High end Gaming PC.

    Happy Gaming!
