    No sound with series x blueray when using soundbar

    The solution I have found is to hook up your system differently but you don't get 120 fps and other bells and whistles. Hook up your xbox to your sounbar and then soundbar to tv all using hdmi cords. Then you can watch bluerays with sound. Unfortunately then you have to switch it back to hooking it up directly xbox to tv and hdmi to sounbar to get 120 fps and full 4k. Hope this helps somebody until they get a proper update sent out.

    :)

    Xbox Series X Dolby Atmos sound delay

    Hi,

    unfortunately the series x doesnt have an optical audio out port so that is not an option - and that also doesnt solve the issue which is specific to dolby atmos.

    So according to the manual for the panasonic soundbar i need to run two hdmi cables from the xbox - one to the tv for dolby vision/ALLM and then a second one to the soundbar for the sound

    Obviously theres only one HDMI out socket on the series x so i assume this is not possible?

    Dolby digital on XBOX Series X

    Hi Ehsaan,

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums! We are sorry to hear about your issue and would like to help out. I have done some research on the soundbar in question LG SL6Y: 3.1 Channel Sound Bar w/DTS Virtual X & High Resolution Audio | LG USA and it appears that the soundbar does not support DTS:X or Dolby Atmos due to it not supporting 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound but is does support DTS: Virtual:X which the Series X does not.

    With this particular soundbar your only audio option will be stereo uncompressed. I am linking the Xbox Support page concerning console audio settings so that you may see what your audio options are for your Series X console. Choosing speaker audio settings on your Xbox console | Xbox Support

    Dolby Atmos delay on Xbox Series X

    Updated:

    I found that my soundbar SONY HT Z9F soundbar use HDMI 2.0 of which bandwidth is 18gbs connect to my TV using eARC port, so I changes my HDMI to

    8K HDMI of which soundbar is 48gbs, and the delay improve a lot that it is hard to notice now.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I have tested. My set is

    TV has enable eARC and set sound passthrough, HDMI BITSTREAM. XBOX SERIES allows PASSTHROUGH.

    XBOX SERIES X --> LG 65 QNED90 --> SONY HT Z9F (eARC)

    there is very noticeable delay on Atmos but don't have delay on any uncompressed sound like 5.1 or 7.1

    XBOX SERIES X --> SONY HT Z9F (eARC) --> LG 65 QNED90

    the atoms sound is sync with image, but I got a ton of delay on controller input, so I set TV image mode to Game Optimize,

    and set game mode to FPS, the controller input delay is gone, but now, i got atoms delay back...

    By the way, because my TV doesn't support DTS - X PASSTHROUGH, so when I connect XBOX to my soundbar, I could enable DTS X, and DTS X is working perfectly and there is no any delay comparing to Dolby Atmos.

    Razer Blade 15 with RTX 2070 MAX Q --> LG 65 QNED90 --> SONY HT Z9F (eARC)

    I don't have any input or atmos sound delay in this set.

    So here is conclusion:

    xbox series x has issue to passthrough Atmos content, even thought it is directly connect to sound bar, the sound or TV try to delay image to sync with atmos sound which causes a ton of input delay. But once you set the TV into low legacy input mode to get rid of input delay, the Atmos sound delay will be back.

    And Razer blade 15 with RTX 2070 MAX Q which is PC is perfectly working at Atmos without any issue.

    So this is definitely XBOX SERIES X ISSUE!!!!

    Xbox to Soundbar on monitor

    Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

    I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

    Hey Gabito787elmax, how are you today? Hope you're well.

    Iportante Note: The Xbox Series X|S console does not have an HDMI in port. You won’t be able to connect your cable or satellite receiver to the console. Instead, connect your cable or satellite directly to your TV.

    Because the Series X removed the optical output that previous Xbox models had.

    If you have an HDMI ARC-enabled soundbar and TV:

    1. Connect your console to the soundbar using the console’s HDMI output and one of the soundbar’s HDMI inputs.

    2. With a second HDMI cable, connect the soundbar to the TV using ARC-enabled ports on both.

    If you don't have ARC-enabled soundbar, but do have optical ports on your soundbar and TV:

    1. Connect the Series X directly to your TV’s HDMI input.

    2. Connect the TV to the soundbar using an optical cable.

    Setting up surround sound will vary depending on your connection method and whether you’re using a soundbar system that's compatible with Dolby Atmos, 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. Keep in mind that Atmos won’t work over optical connections, so you’ll need ARC or eARC for it.

    If you don’t have an Atmos-ready soundbar, start by opening the console’s system settings. Open General, then Volume & audio output. You’ll have a few different options to choose:

    If you’re using a soundbar with no digital surround sound functionality, choose Stereo Uncompressed.

    If you can use surround sound and are using an HDMI ARC or eARC connection, select either 5.1 Uncompressed or 7.1 Uncompressed.

    If you can use surround sound and are using an optical connection, choose Bitstream Out. Then, select either DTS Digital Surround or Dolby Digital as the bitstream format.

    Enabling Dolby Atmos will first require you to download the Dolby Access app from the Microsoft Store. Ignore any offers to buy a license once you open it, as this is only necessary for certain Atmos-enabled headphones, rather than sound systems.

    Once the app is installed, head to that Volume & audio output menu. Under Speaker audio, select Bitstream out, then choose Dolby Atmos for Home Theater as the bitstream format. Dolby Atmos will now be usable with movies and games.

    4k video not passing through Vizio soundbar

    Thanks for your reply. I understand the PS4 does not support 4k, but my Fire TV cube does. I plug my Fire TV into the HDMI in on the soundbar, and it plays in 4k and the soundbar recognizes Atmos. My tv is a Sony Bravia about 3 years old, so it does not have HDMI 2.1. I searched my owners manual, the settings on the tv, and the internet and could not find anywhere what version of HDMI my tv supports. I assume it is 2.0.

    I am using the HDMI cable that came with the soundbar, no way to tell which version it is.

    What I don't understand is why would my Fire TV pass through the soundbar correctly and provide Atmos sound? And also, why did my Series X work for a short time, and now won't? I was able to watch several UHD Blu-ray discs on the series x and was able to get Atmos. Then a few days ago, the XBox will not pass through the soundbar. I had to plug it back into the tv directly where I cannot get Atmos sound.

    Another confusing thing is I plugged the soundbar into a different HDMI input on my tv, not the HDMI arc port (I don't have eARC, just ARC) and the XBox was able to pass through the soundbar correctly. However, this messed up my cable box sound since the soundbar was no longer connected via ARC. I used a digital optical cable for the cable box but had sound sync issues. Could it be some conflict with the HDMI arc input on my tv and the XBox? If that was the case, why did it work for a short time?
