No sound through headphones on xbox one wireless controller

Probably a perfectly easy solution to this but I am stumped.

For a couple of days now I am getting no sound through my headphones when connected to the xbox one controller. I am not sure if there are newer controllers, but mine has the stereo adapter on it. The only sou d I get is when I press the volume up button, I get the been to stay volume is at maximum, but no sounds at all when scrolling menus/playing games etc

I know it isn't the headset, as they work fine when connecred to my pc, and despite there being no update available for rhe controller, I have reinstalled the update. Could reis be a hardware fault on the xbox itself, or possibly the stereo adapter has failed?

I apologise in avance if this is a real noob problem

Hello, Im using the xbox one stereo Headset.

Also im not hearing any sound while navigating through the console.

I only have one wireless controller, but i tried different headphones plugging them into the adapter on the controller and no sound either. But on my phone both headphones are working.

Come on, it's probably because of the adapter, it's quite common for them to give some kind of error.

Let's check.

Main button, go to the right on the system tab, and then enter the Audio option!

See if the mic is activated

Press the Xbox button to open the dashboard.

Select System > Settings > System > Console Information

Select Reset Console.

If the error persists, try this process and at the end see if the error still occurs.

Finally, remove the adapter and connect a few times, see if the audio is released.

See that, I knew it woukd be something simplex! I did the console reset like you suggested and the sound is back!

For anyone still plagued with this issue, with wireless headphones, you'll need a controller with an audio jack or the adapter.

My Xbox One S, with the September 2018 patch, simply disconnect the wireless headphones and plug standard headphones or cell phone earbuds into the controller. Give it a minute or two, then unplug them. enter the sound settings ams change the headphone
audio "uncompressed stereo". Exit the sound settings and re-enter the sound setting and your HDMI setting will be available. You can then re-setup your wireless headphones with any of the options needed.

I hope this helps others with this issue.
