No reward points with purchase via live store

is there a reason you don't get reward points for xbox one game purchases via the xbox one live store, purchased 2 games via the store on my xbox one dashboard and received no reward points for doing it this way. Nothing on my rewards pending list, are they
only valid if bought through the pc online store, not when got through my Xbox live account on my profile on the Xbox itself?

Xbox Live Rewards Account

I have been an Xbox Live rewards member for years now, and have made several purchases from Xbox Live in the last few years, yet my rewards account has no actual points deposited in it since 2016. Aren't we supposed to get points for purchases from the
store? I've purchased both the deluxe edition of Destiny 2, and For Honor this year alone from the store and no points are reflected. There are several other smaller purchases interspersed throughout as well. Please explain to me what is going on with that.

Xbox rewards program updated

Many of you may remember how due to the change from Microsoft points to actual currency, the rewards program was shut down. Well it's now back with a whole new reward scheme. Awarding gamers with everything from currency credit to discounts on purchases. The basic idea is everything you do gives you point and then eventually you can redeem said points in exchange for in-store currency. Your get points for doing everything from making purchases to simply playing games. Gamers with a high gamerscore even get a discount on purchases.

If there are any specific offers you're looking for credits from, you'll want to post in the Xbox Rewards Questions support forum in order for support to check into it for you. For most offers, only digital purchases from the Xbox Store (console or microsoft.com) will
qualify. In order to receive credits, your purchases either have to be eligible for a specific offer on the site at the time, or you need at least 1 star level in order to receive VIP rebates.

If you're talking about Microsoft Rewards points, you would need to contact their customer support via their redemption page.

If this is Xbox Rewards credits, you would need to post in the Xbox Rewards Questions forum in order for support to check into it for you.

Keep in mind that either way, it is not possible to use currency from your Microsoft account balance to purchase gold subscriptions. Gold can only be purchased via credit card/PayPal or by purchasing a prepaid gold card from a store.

Hi, you don't have to have Live but you will have to ensure that any purchased games do not have Xbox Live as a requirement. The ambassadors above have explained how to obtain live. You can also sign up for Microsoft rewards and by doing the tasks, you gain
reward points (most do not need purchases) and work your way to free Xbox Live. You can do this via https://account.microsoft.com/rewards/ and via the Microsoft Rewards App.

Edit: Initial set up requires an internet conection.

It's not possible to purchase Live with points/your Microsoft Account balance. Gold can only be purchased via credit card/Paypal or by purchasing a prepaid card in a store.

you can purchase Microsoft points via credit card over Xbox live or you can go to the store and pick up a Microsoft points card.
