No Man's Sky not starting via XBox Game Pass PC

Hey ho,

recently i got myself the XBox Game Pass for PC and started playing No Man's Sky.

Till end of last week (around 02.07.2020) this worked perfectly fine, i installed the XBox App via Microsoft Store and then NMS via XBox app and just played. Collected a bunch of hours onto the game and was close to finishing the main quest. But then out
of sudden the game didn't start anymore, it was showing the following error:

(libSceFios2.dll not found)

After rebooting my computer the error message was gone and NMS started, but closed down unexpectedly after some seconds and Microsoft Store showed a "Game needs to be repaired" message when browsing to the NMS game detail page, repairing/re-installing game
is bringing me into the loop "Game starts" - "Game shuts down after 5 seconds" - "Game needs to be repaired" - "Repairing game" - .... .

Errors:

- "missing .dll" is being shown when trying to start NMS via XBox App or Microsoft Store

- NMS starts, but ends unexpectedly after some seconds showing "needs repair" in Microsoft Store

Machine information:

- Windows 10 Pro Version 1903 (Build 18362.900)

- Intel Core i7-8700K

- Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070

What i already tried for fixing it (after tons of googling):

- checked if Win 10/Microsoft Store/XBox App/NMS needed updates and installed pending ones

- updated graphic driver (Nvidia RTX 2070) and antivir

- did clean boot (disabling all services expect windows one and antivir)

- uninstalled NMS and XBox App and cleaned cache (Microsoft Store) and reinstalled XBox App and NMS (with disabled antivir)

- installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86 and x64) - 12.0.30501 (read that for another Microsoft Store purchased game this solved "missing .dll error"

- created new local admin account, installed XBox app and NMS there (to see if my main user was corrupted)

- changed region of pc and synced time/date via web

What helped but only one time:

- Reinstalling "Gaming Service" via PowerShell and uninstalled "GameInput Redistributable" via "Apps and Feature" let me start NMS and play, but when closing the game normally and trying to start again error showed up again (either "missing .dll" or NMS
not starting at all)

Questions:

1. With this i wanted to know if someone had this issue too and if there is a known fix?

3. Is there a log file i can read through to understand better why NMS start up was interrupted and is being shown as "Needs repair" in the Microsoft store? (Couldn't find anything from relevance in the Windows Event Viewer)

2. Is there a way to export/import the NMS (from Microsoft Store) save file (stored within ../Users/<User>/AppData/Local/Packages/HelloGames.NoMansSky_<random_string>SystemAppData/wgs/<RandomString>_<RandomString>) from the Microsoft Store specific location
into different/default save game location (e.g. where Steam version of this games stores it's save games)?

Im having this issue still. Ive updated all drivers. Ive restarted. Reinstalled. Updated windows. To no avail. Frustrating. I dont get any error. Either the game just doesnt launch, or it will before closing at the Hello Games screen.

I don't know why half of the xbox games I install on windows fails to open. I'm getting the same error.

It's probably down to the rumour I heard, the games on the game pass are actually the Xbox versions of the game being forced to run on windows, as opposed to the PC versions available on STEAM

Hiya,

I'm having the exact same error in terms of the missing dll and the hello games splash screen, started last week some point. The only time I've been able to get into the game was when i did a fresh restart of my PC and kept my Wifi off so it couldn't connect
to the internet at all, but the moment I reconnected to the network it died...

Edit: 7/7 Game updated itself this morning and now seems to be functional

Edit 2: 13/7 Still occasionally was getting missing libSceFios2.dll but restarting seemed to solve that, until today. Now I'm getting error code: "No Man's Sky is
currently not available in your account. Here’s the error code, in case you need it: 0x803F8001" Checking on the store I'm being offered the game pass ultimate? has NMS moved from the game pass already?

Yes. Some, though limited, through PC Game Pass there are some select titles available with VR support such as No Man's Sky, and Tetris Effect.
