No in game audio after latest system update (feb/2019)

Hi,

I have an LG SJ9 Dolby Atmos soundbar and it was working fine before the latest patch (02/12/2019). All games and the dashboard sounded fine.

Now it has sound only with the dashboard and Dolby Atmos enabled games. All non-dolby atmos games have no sound. Even when playing a non-atmos game, the UI has all the sounds (like when bringing up the guide), but the game itself doesn't.

Is this is a bug in the patch?

None of that worked. I did the factory reset and the problem persists.

Thanks for your post. To further troubleshoot this try updating your console offline. The

Offline System Update(OSU), allows you to update the console with the most stable release of the Xbox operating system which should correct any issues caused by a recent update.

Hi there,

It's possible this could be a bug as a result of the recent update, but it also could've just been a bad update and a

soft factory reset will be what's needed to try and re-apply it.

Have you checked your Speaker audio in your audio output settings? Do they stay to what you have them set to or are they revert back to defaults?

Also if you haven't done so, I recommend just a simple
hard reset and power cycle while you also re-connect the Xbox to the soundbar.

I just experienced this same problem with the Nov 27, 2012 update.

The only difference in my hardware configuration is that 360 system is one of the pre-HDMI units and I am using the digital optical audio output from the XBOX 360 Component HD AV Cable to connect from the 360 to my audio receiver.

Digital audio worked fine until this latest update. After the update, the boot logo sequence still comes up with full surround audio, but after the boot none of the navigation or other sounds get passed through the digitial optical output and the only way
I have found to get sound back is to do as described above... fallback to rca stereo audio connection, which just doesn't compare and really cripples the home entertainment experience.

I am not sure if the engineers resolved the problem when it occurred with the update in Feb, but I sure hope they can use the knowledge from the previous bug to quickly fix this new one that was just introduced. Not having full digital audio makes the 360
a really bad center piece to the home entertainment system.
