No Audio

My xbox says in the settings that my HDMI cable is not connected but I still have picture coming through, just no audio. It was fine one second, and then it just wasn't. Dead silent. And the weirdest part is that I don't even have an audio section in like,
the side bar xbox menu when you press the home button. The thing where you can adjust game audio, chat mixer, etc. It's not there. I'm at a loss, any help would be very much appreciated.

Sometimes resetting the display settings can bring the audio back but not always.

Make sure there is no disc in the drive

Power the console on using the guide button on your controller, as the console starts up press and hold Y and the trigger trigger on the controller until the console restarts.

 

Hi, try a different hdmi cable, see if that helps. As for the audio section you are talking about, the audio icon only shows if you have a headset connected to the controller.

 

Hi, in the display output settings on the Xbox check that you do not have DVI set. That only outputs video not audio. You should ideally have it set at Auto Detect or even HDMI if Auto Detect gives you issues.

 

Can you direct me to that section in the settings?

Hello, try different HDMI cable. Also check if you connected it properly (HDMI in, HDMI out) Also check your DVI settings

 

That would be in settings/ display & sound/ video output/ video fidelity & overscan/ display

in there you have options of Auto detect, dvi or hdmi

Hey Corey if I may chime in since this has happened to me twice before. Turns out I had a bad copy of the latest update and what ended up fixing it was a reset of the console which redownloads the update. If that happens to be the case try these steps
to see if it helps and keep us posted on any further developments!

Since the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a
Soft Factory Reset
(while keeping games and apps) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

Short answer bud, no, the only thing is all profiles will be kicked off that's why we suggest having all the sign in info to re-download them and set to home console. After that has been done its going to be business as usual.
