  1. No audio in the capture from Xbox game bar(windows PC)

    Hello,
I use Xbox game bar(on windows PC) for capturing any meetings or anything important.
Recently I've recorded a meeting and after seeing the capture I've realized that there is no audio in that capture.
I've have settings for capturing only the internal audio from the system, and I've also cross checked it after that but everything was correct.
what can I do for bringing back the audio in that already captured recording?

    :)

No audio in the capture from Xbox game bar(windows PC)

    yes,

These settings are already set in my control panel,
also I wanted to share another thing, when I recorded once again after that issue, this time the capture had audio, so I don't understand how to get the audio for last capture.
If it is not possible at all then it's ok.
    Thank you for your reply.šŸ˜„

No audio in the capture from Xbox game bar(windows PC)

Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

There isn't a way to recover audio on an already recorded clip. But you can make sure the Microphone is enabled for your next recording.

    - Go to Settings (press Windows + I key together) > Privacy.

    - On the left hand pane scroll down and look for Microphone.

    - Toggle Allow apps to access Microphone to ON.

    - Under Choose which Microsoft Store app can access your Microphone toggle Xbox game bar to ON.

    - Restart the game bar.

    Hope this helps.

Xbox Game Bar not recording audio

Hi there! This is Virginia O.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with gamebar.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please check audio recording settings by pressing Windows + G to open the Xbox Game Bar. Click on the Settings (gear icon) and go to Capturing.

Under Audio to record, select All to ensure game audio is included.

And then verify Windows sound settings. To do this, go to Settings > System > Sound. Ensure your default playback device is correctly set like speakers or headset. Check that Windows audio enhancements are disabled.

Next is to enable audio capture in Windows Settings. Open Windows Settings and go to Gaming > Captures. Make sure Record audio when I record a game is turned ON.

Then update audio drivers. Do this by opening Device Manager and go to Sound, video, and game controllers. Right-click your audio device and select Update driver.

After that is to clear Xbox Game Bar cache and then restart. Hold the power button for 10 seconds, unplug your PC for a few minutes, then restart.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

How do I record party/game chat audio in my Xbox captures

Hi JJX7, and thanks for getting in touch. I'm Aileen, and I'm here to provide you with advice as an Independent Advisor.

I can really feel the frustration here. Wanting to capture your gameplay moments with your friends’ voices makes total sense, especially when those conversations are part of what makes the session fun. You've already tried the settings and even streaming, so I get why you're hoping for a workaround that doesn't involve buying an expensive capture card. Let’s go over what you can do.

Why your Xbox clips don’t include party audio:

Right now, Xbox’s built-in game capture system doesn’t support recording party chat by default. It’ll pick up your mic if you're talking, but your friends' voices just won’t be included. This has been a common limitation that a lot of players bump into, and unfortunately, there’s no toggle that fully fixes this on the console alone.

Option 1: Use a Windows PC with Xbox Game Bar

If you have access to a Windows 10 or 11 PC, you can capture both party audio and gameplay this way:

Open the Xbox app on your PC and sign in.

Join your Xbox party from the app (not the console).

Press Windows key + G to open Xbox Game Bar.

In the Game Bar settings under "Capturing," make sure both mic and system audio are selected.

Start recording from the Game Bar while you play (either on PC or via Xbox Cloud Gaming).

This lets the Game Bar pick up your voice and your friends', since they’re all going through the app.

Option 2: Remote play your Xbox to a PC and capture that

If you still want to play from your console but record on a PC:

Install the Xbox app on your Windows PC.

Connect your console and start Remote Play from the app.

Join the party chat from the Xbox app as well.

Record the gameplay using OBS Studio or Xbox Game Bar on the PC.

Since everything runs through the PC—including the audio—this method captures the full party sound.

Low-tech workaround if you're stuck on console:

If you don’t have a PC to use, there’s one budget-friendly trick you can try:

In your console audio settings, change Party Chat Output to ā€œSpeakersā€ so your friends’ voices come out of the TV.

Use your phone or any external recorder and place it near the TV speaker.

Record your gameplay that way, with the voices being picked up through the TV.

It's not ideal and won’t give you high-quality audio, but it’s something you can try without spending anything.

I know it’s disappointing that Xbox doesn’t offer this feature out of the box, and hopefully, they’ll add it in a future system update. But until then, one of these options should give you what you're looking for.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Looking forward to your response.
