  1. No audio from XBox Series X

    Hi there,

    For some reason, I have no audio coming from my XBox Series X. If I'm playing any game I have absolutely no sound whatsoever. It's not the TV, I have audio coming from the TV when I'm watching a channel or streaming music or a film.

    XBox is connected via HDMI.

    When I look at the audio setting associated to the controller, this is not selectable, it's greyed out.

    When I look at the bottom right audio settings menu, all of the options are greyed out.

    I have a mic icon on the top right of the screen, this has a line through it.

    The only way I get audio is when my headset is connected.

    I've tried resetting the console, this did not clear the issue. I've updated both the controllers and this hasn't fixed the issue.

    Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    :)

    Xbox Series X - I can no longer turn off hdmi audio since installing the september update

    I have almost the same problem except the error message says

    “if you’re using Xbox series X/S, note that HDMI audio can’t be turned off. In other consoles, either optical or HDMI audio must be on. (0x80bd0009)

    Why can’t I turn off hdmi audio on Xbox series x it makes no sense?

    Will XBox Series X support external DAC/Amp hardware via USB?

    There are multiple articles stating audio compatibility via USB. If optical is necessary, there are various HDMI to optical devices available which you may need to add.

    https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/09/02/designed-for-xbox-new-look-continuous-compatibility/

    "Some gaming headsets that utilize an optical cable may require a firmware update to support game and chat audio over USB on Xbox Series X. Soundbars and headsets that do not receive updates may be connected
    directly to your televisions optical port."

    How do I get xbox audio through my speakers which are plugged into my monitor by a 3.5mm jack?

    Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    Good evening

    To get Xbox audio through your Logitech Z200 speakers, which are connected to your AOC Gaming Q27G2E monitor via a 3.5mm jack, you'll need to make sure the audio is properly routed from your Xbox Series X to the monitor.

    Check your monitor's audio input: First, make sure that your monitor (AOC Gaming Q27G2E) is capable of receiving audio through its 3.5mm audio input. Typically, monitors that have built-in speakers or an audio output port (3.5mm jack) also have an audio input option.

    Connect the Xbox to the monitor: Use an HDMI cable to connect your Xbox Series X to the AOC Gaming Q27G2E monitor. This will handle the video signal.

    Connect the speakers to the monitor: Plug the 3.5mm jack of your Logitech Z200 speakers into the audio output port on your monitor. This port should be labeled as an audio output or a headphone icon.

    Configure Xbox audio settings: Once the physical connections are set up, you need to configure the audio settings on your Xbox Series X:

    a. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

    b. Navigate to the System tab (gear icon) using the controller.

    c. Go to Settings > General > Volume & audio output.

    d. Under the "Speaker audio" section, select "HDMI audio."

    e. Make sure to set "Headset audio" to "Off" or "Do nothing" since you're using the external speakers through the monitor.

    Adjust the monitor's audio settings: On your AOC Gaming Q27G2E monitor, locate the on-screen display (OSD) menu button. This button may be labeled as "Menu" or have an icon of a monitor with buttons. Access the OSD menu and navigate to the audio settings. Ensure that the audio input is set to "3.5mm" or "Analog" to receive audio from the Xbox connected via HDMI.

    Test the audio: After making these adjustments, play a game or video on your Xbox Series X to test the audio output through the Logitech Z200 speakers connected to your monitor.

    If everything is set up correctly, you should now be able to hear the audio from your Xbox Series X through your Logitech Z200 speakers connected to your AOC Gaming Q27G2E monitor via the 3.5mm jack. Adjust the volume using the monitor's built-in controls or the volume control on the speakers themselves.

    No audio from XBox Series X

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there.

    I'm Wille, an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

    Try resetting the console cache:

    1. Go to the Xbox press and hold the XBOX power button on the console for 10 seconds until it turns off;

    2. Wait 10 seconds until it turns off;

    3. Wait 1 minute with it off;

    4. Turn it back on.

    If it doesn't solve it, press the Xbox button to open the guide. to open the guide. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output, in Headset audio, unchecked the option Using HDMI or optical audio headset.

    Probably after this change, you will be able to reactivate the sound in Speaker audio > HDMI audio.

    Let me know if it worked. Looking forward to it, I really want to help you! :)

    So will the series X have an optical out port?

    https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-series-x-wont-have-spdif-optical-audio-or-ir-blaster

    Nope. Confirmed by windows central series x WILL NOT have an optical port.

    This is pretty damn poor from Microsoft. They have said all accessories for xbox one will work on series x. Wity this port missing this is not true. My £300 astro wireless headset will now no longer connect to the new console. I very much doubt astro could
    update it to work via USB only.

    Pretty disappointed in this at the mo unless they come up with a fix so I still get the same great 3d audio from Dolby atmos and full chat using my a50's.
