No audio from the tv

So before I start, this issue was nonexistent until today. When I have my headset plugged in via USB into my xbox the sound no longer comes from my tv. I went into the audio settings on the xbox and when the headset is plugged it it greyed out the speaker
audio options. As soon as I unplug the headset, the options are available again. I'm wondering if anybody has found a permanent fix to this. I've found a few threads but no answers.

One thing I forgot to mention is its the dock for a wireless headset that causes this issue when plugged into the xbox. And I learned that I'll get the startup sound of the xbox when I restart it and nothing else.

It fixed itself. Idk what changed, it all looks the same but it works now. Thanks to those who reached out to help.

Usually people have the opposite problem and don't want audio from tv while headphones are in. Check the audio output settings of your tv is all I can suggest.

Also it sounds simple but have you checked the audio settings chat mixer etc? These have an effect on what you are mentioning also. Since you mentioned that it just started like overnight

The audio issue I have is when watching tv the audio goes through my avr. When I decide to play a game, the game plays but no sound through the avr, the tv audio is still going through it, but I do get audio from the game through the tv speakers. Any help?

Hi,

As some of the Ambassadors have mentioned already, the Xbox does not cut audio to the TV when a headset is connected to the controller. To stop audio from your tv simply mute the tv or go into your tv's settings (if its a smart tv) and change the audio out
from TV to Headphones. That way you won't be disturbing anyone with the sound coming out of your TV if you forget to mute it. Hope this suggestion helps

You may find that you might have to manually select the audio output on your TV. ie, change the setting from TV speaker to external speaker, therefore changing the audio output to the red & white audio output sockets on the back or side of the TV.
