Nicest guy in the world Banned?!

Yesterday, me and my friends were playing PUBG as we do almost every night. We are all grown adults with kids and we don’t interact with anyone else. Usually just the same 4 to 6 people in our playing rotation, all 30+ years old.

So yesterday, one of my friends gets permanently banned from Xbox live right after we win a match of pubg. It says in his email that there is evidence of communication or something to that nature that is the reason he is permanently banned. The guy has never received any bans before from Xbox live at least during the 7 years I’ve been playing with him. He plays pubg, destiny 2, and fortnite with his son.

Now my question is this, what could have possibly gotten him permanently banned? The guy is literally Mr. Rogers from PBS network. I can’t imagine that he has said or done anything that warrants a permanent ban. Is there a possibility that microsoft made a mistake? Is there any way to dispute this? The usual group that play together are completely torn up about this.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. As stated by the member above we are just players and community members just like you, however, your friend could be requesting a case review. Normally a permanent ban doesn't happen by mistake, but he can still do it if he sees that he hasn't done anything wrong.

For him to be able to request a case review, he just needs to use the instructions in the article below.

he would have to file a review over on the xbox enforcement site.

Mass reporting doesn't result in bans. The enforcement team investigates every complaint and will only issue a suspension/ban if they determine the person has done something to violate the code of conduct/terms of service. So you can have a million reports filed against you and not receive a suspension. It only takes 1 valid report to receive a suspension/ban though.

Rep doesn't have anything to do with suspensions/bans so you can be completely in the green and still receive one.

Thanks for the response. I believe he has done this and it sounds like that’s all he can do.

My suspicion is that his account was hacked and used to mass send bot messages to people. Either that or someone with a grudge must have gotten a bunch of friends to mass report him. I’m not sure how it works but permanent ban seems really excessive for someone who’s never recieved a ban or negative reputation.

Yes, I understand, if he has already requested the review the team responsible for it will give him an answer in a few days, hopefully, everything will be fine.
