  2. Would this External Hard Drive Work

Any ext. hdd will work as long as it supports usb 3.0. I'm using a Seagate Backup Plus 2tb ext hdd and it works great!

I cant install any games at all, please help!

It seems to be the ext hdd the update has a problem with. Do this. Remove ext hdd, you won't be needing it for a few hours. Next reboot then preview app should be under ready to install. If not hold power down for 10 secs and reboot. Try again and install
a small game everything should install no problem on internal. At this point your xbox should be working normal except you can't use ext hdd, but don't worry about that at some point later today you'll get an update. Then you can plug in hdd and everything
    should be fine

  4. Newest Update Horror!!!!!! Ext. Hdd no longer recognized!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I installed a Seagate external hdd yesterday - and it works fine. So not all general problem.

But have tried to various Sandisk thumbdrives with no success - ones that are recognized in 360 but not in X1 - but that was almost a year ago, so not this update.

But it shows some usb stuff is simply not compatible.

I got a tip on chat support at one time how to revert last update - some controller button presses in series - don't remember.

I would try that and also have external drive unconnected while doing update, just in case. Something in update probably did not go well.

    Try chat support maybe.

I guess you tried the usuall power cycling thingy that often shows up as recommended as first troubleshooter.

Hold power button 10-20s, even unplug power plug once that is shut down and similar.

  5. First thanks for simple reply. but of course i have hard reset a few times. Im not using USB thumbdrives... Im using a Toshiba 2TB and Seagate 1TB USB 3.0 Hdd. Both have worked in the past. But now neither is recognized!!! i guess ill just download a game
on Internal for now.. but even that is like 100GB so gonna take me a few hours. Anyways i dont get it!!! Also im american and im living in germany and i cant call XBL germany i wont be able to even talk to them like i would in english. anyways ill just hope
its fixed within a week or so since ive Pre ordered COD WW2 w season pass!! it better be workingby then!!!

  6. Thumb drive, just for media, was just an example of how usb support in general was fishy in X1 compared to 360.

My Seagate 4 TB hdd works just fine for games.

I wonder if they did something to destroy usb drives in this update though - I would contact chat support and you also give feedback if there is something else than that update itself did not fully install as intended. These people if so amabassadors have
closer feedback to MS than we have. They really walk the extra mile to help IMO.

And they might also has info from other users if they had problems at all with external drives in this update.

I would not hold my breath until next update. It was a week between two former, but that was really unusuall.
