Newest Minecraft Java wont update

Hello, my minecraft native launcher will not update. Itll download and then itll say unable to update. Ive checked to make sure my laptop is up to date which it is. Ive also used the "run as admin" as well. What can i do to try to get this to update? Ive even uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Go to Minecraft website and download the Windows 7/8 launcher. Try playing the game using it. The new Windows 10/11 launcher is having some instabilities lately.

You can also run it in Windows 7 compatibility mode:

- Right-click on the Minecraft launcher shortcut > Select properties.

- Click the Compatibility tab and choose Windows 7.

Make sure you sign in with the correct Microsoft Account used for the Migration and let me know how it goes.

The Xbox 360 and the Xbox One (the one labeled Xbox One Edition) Versions of Minecraft are not actually support with updates at all since around the update they added llamas a few years ago. If you've been looking for/hearing about this new update of Minecraft
its only available on Bedrock editions (Windows 10 variants) and the Java versions of Minecraft, so "new" Minecraft only. Don't worry though, when you upgrade to an Xbox One if you owned Minecraft at any point you get the newest version for free. (I think.)

I would assume you are trying to download on a windows pc.

You will have to install the minecraft launcher first.

To play Minecraft: Java Edition, download and install the correct launcher for your operating system. Sign into the Launcher using your Microsoft account, and you will be able to run Java Edition.

To play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, you will need a device running Windows 10 or 11 to download and install the newest version of the Launcher, within which you can launch and play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Sign into the Launcher using your Microsoft account, and you will be able to run Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

I don't know if you can download it somehow, but if you have Minecraft from the Windows store it should show up if you sign in with the same account. It wont however show up in the Minecraft Java version as that is very different.
