New xbox series s controller xbox/home button not working (X in the middle)

Xbox Series X|S controllers are fully compatible with the Xbox One, One S and One X. Also the Xbox One controllers work on the new Series consoles.

I did all of these except C because it says I can't revert and my controller is up to date.

Just to confirm, if you press the Xbox logo button outside the testing option.
Are you able to see the Xbox guide as soon as your press the button or nothing happens?

That's really odd

Could be a hardware issue, but before concluding that we can try to isolate the problem a bit more, try this:

A. Power cycle the console and re-pair the controller

1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

2. Unplug the console's power cable from the console and from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes.

Important: Be sure to wait at least 5 minutes. This step resets the power supply.

3. Plug the console power cable back in.

4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

B. Connect the controller via USB cable and check if a new firmware update appears in the accessories app

C. Do the opposite, downgrade your controller firmware
