New Xbox One Users unable to download 360 games (games w/gold; 360 codes)

Ok.. so, seeing this happen to quite a few folks (new users that NEVER used an xbox 360)... They try to purchase a BC game and download it to their Xbox One or they try to redeem a code and it won't let them. They've called support and tried everything,
but it all seems to be due to them not having their profile downloaded to an xbox 360 console.

Any clue why new xbox one users that never had an xbox 360 are having trouble downloading the BC games?

Backwards compatibility games wont download

I try to download the latest 360 game for gold on my xbox one but It cane up with an error saying unable to download

 

Will FORZA 5 be a games with gold candidate??

Games for Gold is for both Xbox 360 & Xbox One users 360 users get games for the moment and Xbox One users get free avatars and video game discounts for the moment.

Unfortunately this is not a coding error, it is more of an account error as it is trying to verify you are making appropriate "purchases". You can see here,

forums.xbox.com/.../2085332.aspx , that Misses Quinzel acknowledges this.

If you wish to see this potentially changed, make sure to head over to Xbox Feedback (xbox.uservoice.com/.../510964-posting-guidelines) and follow the
guidelines to create a post, if there is not one already made!

Unfortunately, that still does go back to a coding issue either within the account or the way the engineers have the system set up.

With the advent of Backwards Compatibility (BC) and making games with gold (and other 360 games) BC, that makes Xbox One customers that are not also Xbox 360 customers expect to be able to download or use those games in the emulator without issue. However,
due to the system being set up (coded) to expect the customers to be using the Xbox 360 before the Xbox one, it is not allowing those customers to redeem tokens or purchase those games to download to the Xbox One console.

As such, I must respectfully disagree with Misses Quinzel and yourself at this point in time. There needs to be an update to the coding, either within the store or code redemption for games that are BC or to accounts to allow the purchase/redemption of
BC games for use on the Xbox One for customers that never had the privilege to play games on the Xbox 360.

I do feel the need to point out that I am not one affect by this (or many other issues that I see mentioned in the forums) as I have been with Xbox since Xbox V1 days. I just want to make sure the issues that I have noticed are made aware to the proper
staff and I know the forums are the best place to go.

 

There is a way to do it

Do it the official way since you are talking about multiple errors

Not a work around etc

The only way to download games with gold is a make sure your account region reflects your actual region this is enforced by international law hence why you are getting not available in hour region errors that something that won't go away so unless you don't
live in an live region you don't qualify for the content and that is a legal requirement for region locked content

If you don't have any xbox 360 then. Your only option is the Webstore this isn't s coding issue as with all consoles marketplaces are different and you can't access previous generation content on the same console as they are completely separate marketplaces
you must have a payment option on file while using the 360 webstore or use a 360

Or a billing issue because you used an out of region account which your should follow the tou and use your actual region unless you don't live in

Then make sure to head over to the Feedback site, xbox.uservoice.com , to voice your concerns or vote with those that already have. Much of what is submitted there is reviewed and either acted upon or dismissed.

 

The problem with this is.

That the top of Xbox One suggested that it's ok to buy digital gift cards and buy games from the US digital store which is cheaper than most Europe stores.

But now a year later (for europe region) the BC comes in and suddenly the account must be the one you live in. So now I buy Us digital games (also can use the english subtitles then) but am excluded from getting my xbox360 gold games.

Whole this ride of the Xbox one is one of changing direction constantly. Sometimes I think the one side of the company doesn't know what the other side does. And this is simply from the xbox team.

 

It keeps telling me the *** phrase "Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox." This is from the mobile site (marketplace.xbox.com/.../66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8025841129a),
and it's been happening since DiRT 3. If this problem persists, you people at Xbox could receive a lawsuit from someone (not me though XD).

Seriously though, just give us freaking download codes. It's really starting to tick me off.

 

Drgermany I suggest you read the terms of use

And no it is not recommended you buy out of region content or codes

It causes more problems and legally not viable

Acodes are region locked you are playing Russian roulette

B you may not bypass international laws and region locks

That is a legal requirement not voluntary and clwarly stated in the terms of use

They said xbox one was region free disks not digital content all currency cards are region locked regardless of console or systems

You may not bypass your local laws

 

I don't know if this is directed at me (Drgermany).

But if so I am more and more getting confused.

I live in Belgium and I have set my xbox to US store because I can choose English subtitles (when set on dutch most of the time you don't get subtitles). Also because you can buy US games which are most of the time faster available (Not so much to ask I
think for being a Tier2 "customer") and because it's cheaper.

I was in the understanding that this was allowed since Microsoft director of marketing Albert Penello has said this.

"You can use one of the 13 digital marketplaces corresponding to our launch markets, assuming you have a valid payment instrument for those countries. Lots of people in Europe specifically travel, move, and visit family," he continued before slyly adding
"Now, of course, if you were using Pre-Paid cards..."

If this is not so can you tell me what he means by this because I think I am doing exactly what he has stated there?

I hope the games from the xbox 360 are going to be integrated in the dashboard, so I can download them. And also can keep buying from the US store.

It's not that I am constantly keep changing regions.

This whole thing is getting confusing just like the XboxOne has been all the time since the start.

 

That was for the initial launch

Since the xbox one live regions isn't match the 360 regions yet

And only if your local laws allowed it

The region migrations tool isnt meant for temporary moves or visits but actual moves as stated by the faq

Digital content on 360 and one still has to follow international laws

He said that's for playing on live content is is still ruled by international laws like the ones controlling gears and gta and halo

Again, this is not an "issue", per se. This is a security feature designed to protect accounts. The same thing happens to those that use only 360 and have never touched an Xbox One with their account; the website wants them to make the purchase on their
