New Xbox, Can't Update

Got a new Xbox one X yesterday i am unable to use it, go through the initial setup configuration choose language location timezone it then goes to update and does not work tells me to check connection, my computer is using same connection, have tried wireless
and wired connection i then attemped to hot spot it off my phone which also gave me the same error.

0x80072EE7 0x00000000 0x00000200.

Cant find any solution for this issue. the suggestion is to check the network and try again.

Any assistance greatly appreciated. As i literally cannot do anything with it.

A controller made by Afterglow will probably not use the same firmware a regular Xbox One controllers. Any questions about if the controller requires a firmware update and how to carry out the update will probably need to be directed to Afterglow.

So I recently got a new controller, the wired afterglow one for xbox one. Only reason I got it was bc my original xbox wireless controller didnt have a mic amp and I couldnt find an adapter anywhere. So I've been having trouble hearing through my new headset
(astro A10's) and my boyfriend suggested I update my controller bc right now it's only at firmware version 1.1.43.0 and he says his is 3 something. My first question is why is my brand new controller not already updated to the lastest version???? anyways,
when I go to the settings to try and update my controller the firmware box is greyed out and I can't even scroll over it. so how am I supposed to update it?? anyone have this same problem or now how to fix it?

edit: just decided to plug in my wireless controller and see if it would update. it does with ease. so is there something wrong my afterglow controller? cant be my xbox or anything bc my wireless controller just updated in 2 seconds when I plugged it in.

Sorry about the issue you are having with your new console. You can try an
offline update if that doesn't work and you purchased it from a store, I recommend taking there to swap it, if purchased from Microsoft, ebay, amazon you can set up a repair at

i literally just got this one to replace one that was overheating and shutting down, i plugged it in and can't do the initial setup gets to the update field and wont work.

So i should take this back to see if another one might update and work out of the box?

Not really. I own two Xbox one X and I have had no issues with them at all. You could wait until

service alert is over. See if it will update at that time if not then swap it at store. It could be due to service alert but not likely since you tried this yesterday.
