New Minecraft launcher, and the countless problems with it.

*I'm not sure if this is the right category for this question, but I hope someone can help me regardless.*

I tried to install the new launcher when it came out, had no luck. When I pressed the download button, it just showed the loading animation, and went back to normal. Somehow, I got it working. But there was another problem, I couldn't sign in. After pressing "Sign in with a Microsoft account" it opened a browser thingy for a second, and then the launcher got stuck on a loading animation. And because I didn't delete the old launcher, I resorted to using that.

However, When I installed a new copy of windows (because the old system decided to fail for no clear reason) I was left to using the new launcher. At first, I couldn't even install it. It would just crash, or error msg me "something went wrong, try again later".

So I just downloaded it from the Microsoft store, knowing that it will probably prompt me to do so anyways. Here, I couldn't sign in either. "Something went wrong in the login process". After finding out that the Xbox services needed to be enabled for that, (I had disabled them, because I never use xbox/ microsoft apps, and didn't want it to run in the background.) it error msg'd me again. "We couldn't sign you in to xbox live" and "the system cannot find the file specified". I assume it is referring to the "Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider" folder (located in appdata) which for some reason is missing for me.

    Additional info, which might help:

    I'm using Windows 10 (Pro)

I'm on a local account, and I am not planning on using Microsoft account on windows, because I've also had millions of problems with that.
    (For ex. :
Windows making 2 user folders, and system not having access to none of them.
Not being able to disable password.

Extra **** running in the background, that you cannot disable
+ I want a nickname for my user account, not my real name, tied to the Microsoft account.)

Also, keep the obvious stuff out of this, like checking internet connection, running microsoft store in background, or smth like that.

    :)

New Minecraft launcher, and the countless problems with it.

Hi there yoyjux welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. I suggest you try these basic troubleshooting steps!

    Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

    Click Check for Updates;

    Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

    Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command, then you're going to open the gamepass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again :

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

I'm unable to install Minecraft Launcher from Microsoft Store.

I don't use proxy or VPN.

I have the old Minecraft Launcher ( the one that doesn't have Microsoft Windows 10 in it ) but i don't have the new launcher that has all of the 3 minecraft versions and that is the one I want to download from Microsoft Store.

As for unofficial Minecraft Launchers, I have Lunar Client and Badlion Client, but I don't use them.

Anyways, I just restarted and the problem still exists.

How do you switch accounts when your old one was banned

    Hi there Hayden Y.

I am Lumie and I would love to assist you today.

I am so sorry you are having issues logging into your account.

    Clear Cached Credentials

Clearing the cached credentials can stop the automatic sign-in process.

    Windows:

    Open Credential Manager:

Press Windows Key + S and type "Credential Manager".
    Open Credential Manager.

    Remove Minecraft Credentials:

    Select "Windows Credentials".
Look for any entries related to Minecraft or the Minecraft Launcher.
Click on them and select "Remove".

    MacOS:

    Open Keychain Access:

Use Spotlight (Command + Space) and type "Keychain Access".
    Open Keychain Access.
    Delete Minecraft Entries:

In the left pane, select "Login" and "All Items".
Search for any entries related to Minecraft or the Minecraft Launcher.
    Right-click and delete them.

    Reset Minecraft Launcher
Resetting the Minecraft Launcher can sometimes clear out any problematic settings or cached data.

    Windows:
    Reset Minecraft Launcher:
Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
Go to "Apps" and find Minecraft Launcher.
Click on it and select "Advanced options".
    Scroll down and click "Reset".

    MacOS:
    Delete Preference Files:
Open Finder and press Command + Shift + G.
Type ~/Library/Application Support and press Enter.
Find the Minecraft folder and delete it or move it to a backup location.

    Modify the Launcher Profile Manually
Manually editing or deleting the profile used by the launcher might force it to prompt for new credentials.

    Windows:

    Access Minecraft Directory:

Press Windows Key + R, type %appdata%\.minecraft, and press Enter.
    Edit or Delete Profiles:

    Find the launcher_profiles.json file.
Open it with a text editor like Notepad.
Look for the account details and either modify or delete the relevant sections.
Alternatively, you can delete the entire launcher_profiles.json file (the launcher will recreate it).

    MacOS:
    Access Minecraft Directory:

Open Finder, press Command + Shift + G, and go to ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft.

    Edit or Delete Profiles:

    Locate the launcher_profiles.json file.
Open it with a text editor.
Modify or delete the relevant account sections.
    Or delete the launcher_profiles.json file.

    Reinstall Minecraft Launcher
If the above steps do not work, reinstalling the Minecraft Launcher can resolve many issues.

    Windows:
    Uninstall Minecraft Launcher:

Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
Go to "Apps" and uninstall Minecraft Launcher.
    Reinstall Minecraft Launcher:

Download the latest version of the Minecraft Launcher from the official Minecraft website and install it.
    MacOS:
    Uninstall Minecraft Launcher:

Open Finder, go to Applications, and drag the Minecraft Launcher to the Trash.
    Empty the Trash.

    Reinstall Minecraft Launcher:

Download the latest version of the Minecraft Launcher from the official Minecraft website and install it.

Create a New Windows User Profile
Sometimes, user-specific data can cause issues. Creating a new Windows user profile can help bypass these problems.

    Windows:
    Create a New User:

Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
Go to "Accounts" > "Family & other users".
Click "Add someone else to this PC".
Follow the prompts to create a new user.
Log in with the New User:

Log out of your current account and log in with the new user account.
Install and run the Minecraft Launcher from the new account.

    I hope this helps!

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. -Lumie

Minecraft feedback website doesn't let me log into my Microsoft account

Hello Happy_AlexRO, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

Please try the following procedure to see if it solves your Minecraft problem:

First of all, if you have any Minecraft Launcher installed, please uninstall it completely from your PC.

    https://www.xbox.com/games/store/minecraft-launcher/9PGW18NPBZV5

Install the new Minecraft Launcher that can be downloaded from the Xbox app. Said Launcher corrects most of the problems.

It is recommended that you install it on the same storage unit where you have your Windows installed. It weighs approximately 10 MB so it won't take up much memory, don't worry.

Launch the Minecraft Launcher you just installed from the Xbox app, then sign in with the Microsoft account you purchased the game with or the account you migrated it to.

    Best regards.

I'm unable to install Minecraft Launcher from Microsoft Store.

    Also, there is another problem.

Sometimes, when I try to install Minecraft Launcher from Microsoft Store, and then ( the problem happens ), it causes problems too when I try to download other apps, they get the same problem ( Loading then Ending with a problem " Try again Later, Something happened on our end ". That happened with me twice, but I did reset to Microsoft Store and then it got fixed ( except the Minecraft Launcher ). Yesterday, while I was trying to install the game without having the other Minecraft Launchers, Minecraft Launcher's problem wasn't solved and also, and then when I tried to download some other app, the problem of the slow download was back again, then when I tried to do reset Microsoft Store for another time, it wasn't fixing anything.

Is there any way to fix that Minecraft Launcher's problem? I think it's influencing badly on other apps.
