    New gen bottleneck


    The foreseeable bottleneck with new gen console owners is the limited storage space on the ssd cards and being so expensive not everyone can afford to buy an "expansion ssd" card at the current price. What happens is we are forced to upgrade new gen compatible games which only run on "internal only" when installing the game, this creates a bottleneck as the larger file sizes for optimised games to run higher quality graphics obviously consume more memory filling up the internal drive very quick. The remedy to this solution? Allow people to run the previous gen quality on "external hdd storage" with a "downgrade option" , instead of only being stuck with the option of running on internal only for the game to run. When we look at the games coming out like the next c.o.d for eg; known for excessively large file size , games like that at next gen standard will definitely take up most of the room on internal ssd just for 1 game creating a limited storage problem.

    Fyi external hdds are nowhere near fast enough for next gen games

    You are talking about gbps vs mbps

    Over 5,x the speed

    By limiting yourself to usb drives you are creating the bottleneck yourself

    299 isnt that bad compared to hotswapable tech

    You can easily copy games between internal and external storage like a hard or flash drive.

    How does 500mbps thats the theoretical limit of usb and not including the bottlenecks tou are creating by going thru busmasters compare to 4.8gbps straight to the north bridge without going thru 4 devices to get to the same spot

    It's not just about the space but the pipeline how is a 1 line highway better then a 5 lane highway? To put it in English non computer terms

    All the next gen consoles require a NVME device

    Whenever is the easy to install hotswapable tech like a card or a not yet supported insanely expensive slot based memory ps5

    You want the same experience across the board you must keep up with tech

    Guess what I have 5 cod games

    And it still have room on my nvme xbox series x memory

    You gotta remember xbox and ps5 both have a compression proccessor

    Which allows games to be compressed and decompressed on the fly at high speeds

    Games on series x and s are not the same as the xbox

    So question how is 5 stops going at 20kmh better then 1 stop going at 100kmhs?

    Yes that thencorrrect analogy you are talking about nearly 5x the speed with 4.8gbps vs 500mbps

    And if you can't afford it like thenother person said use the external drive and move in and out or save money from games and get a card

    A similar card not yet working ps5 nvme slot is similar in price yet sony has not released what speeds it needs yet but garenteed to be over 6gbps

    The difference is xbox is a card which is hot swapable you do not need to open up the console and reboot it to install more

    I have a total of 9tb free with 10tb total as in the words of kazu you don't need 50games installed

    On fast drives and can be exchanged at anytime you gotta remember sony is using 600mb hd not 800like xbox

    And with NO nvme option and they do have to swap drives
