New gamertag still showing classic gamertag as well on Xbox series X profile.

I'm having the same issue. It displays as S4COlympus but when I try to change it, it tells me my tag is Olympus#7895. Olympus is the tag I want. I changed my tag years ago and it's still set wrong.

I ask this because in some cases a gamertag change can take 72 hours or in some cases a bit more to be reflected everywhere

That means you're profile is showing your classic gamertag as well as one that fits the new gamertag policy. If you changed your tag to something with special characters, it will stay like that so the classic gamertag will show in areas where the new policy is not in effect.

You actually show as having a classic gamertag and a new gamertag. So some areas will still show the old gamertag (classic gamertag).

You have a "classic" gamertag as well as a newer one. If you look at your profile on the Xbox app, it'll show both. Somehow when you changed your tag, you only changed 1 and not the other. So the classic tag will show in areas that do not work with the new gamertag policy, which is why you see it in some areas and not all.
