New feature suggestion: local coop gaming for non coop games with a multiplayer element

Now of course I don't expect this to be easily implemented but with more and more game producers not facilitating local co-op due to what is widely seen as performance issues or lack of demand, maybe xbox can fix this themselves.

My suggestion: It would be great to essentially run 2 instances of the game on 1 console at the same time, with reductions in graphics etc (only runs 720p, reduced but stable frame rate perhaps?) to help with performance. This would allow 2 players on the same TV and console to effectively play split screen. This could be via a virtual lan party for now but would ideally be extended to actual online multiplayer, meaning 2 accounts can play (physically) together in a large scale environment, no doubt it would be dependent on bandwidth at that point.

I know there's many mitigating factors that don't make this an easy task, but it would allow games like halo5 to be played coop like halo has always been played. Without forcing developers to come up with a compromise, it would make the xbox the only true co-op gaming console.

Borderlands 3 have really tried to make local coop work, but it is evident they have struggled with performance issues. (whether by console architecture or the drive for more content/graphics I just don't know)

It's a huge selling point for me, not sure how the community thinks.
