Try this procedure: right stick, select one of the sensitivity presets.

Scroll to Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller and select Configure. Select a profile to adjust or create a new one. Select the Edit button and on the Left Stick or D-pad tab

Open the Xbox Accessories app on your console.

Select the Elite Controller Series 2 or Xbox Adaptive Controller you wish to edit, then select the Configure button.

Choose to create a new profile or edit an existing profile and select the A button .

Press the left bumper  or right bumper  to move over to the left stick  or right stick .

You’ll then be able to choose your settings

Change the sensitivity and adjustment curve to fit your preferences

I don't think it's possible at this moment to map the right or left sticks to assign them to specific buttons. What you can do is map clicking in the right stick into press Right Trigger. But the only customization with the sticks are swapping the left and the right, or inverting the Y axis.

I don't personally own the adaptive controller, but trying these settings with the Elite Series 2 controller does not allow me to do so. If there are any more questions, please let me know.

I'm sorry to here that sadly I had my elite series 2 controller do the same thing, it started with the x button and then the bumpers, I noticed stick drift of both the sticks, sadly when I went to the store to exchange it for another one they had no
elite series 2 controllers in stock, I switched to the Razer wolverine ultimate edition and so far its a great controller
