New disk tray causing problems to my xbox live

I have put a disk tray from another xbox into my own, but every time I try to run a game it disconnects me from xbox live and takes me back to the home screen is there anything anyone can suggest? My warranty has expired so I am able to do maintenance
myself if it is needed.

Xbox 360 Slim disk tray

Hi im fairly new to this forums stuff so bare with me.

Basically i have a 250gb xbox 360 slim which was bought over 2 years ago after my first year of having it the disk tray started playing up and was just wondering if there is a way of fixing my disk tray.

The problem it self is that when i open the disk tray the disk tray opens fine but the light continues to flash and then when i put the disk in and press the touch sensitive button the disk goes in fine but the light continues to flash and about 10-20 seconds
later my xbox spits the disk out the only way i can get the disk tray to accept my disk is but hold the disk tray open while it flashing and then press the button on the xbox live dash board to shut my disk tray if the light continues to flash i press the
touch sensitive button twice and it makes a motor noise i continue this process until my xbox accepts the disk, doesnt normally take to long but can be anoying

on the odd occation the xbox can eject my disk while im in game with that said i have to install every game to the hard drive to prevent this from happening.

I had this problem with my Original Xbox 360 as well and I noticed a good bit of dust was causing the disks to be unreadable I fixed it by getting some pressured air and blowing a little bit in there and cleaning off the disk tray.

As for the disk tray being stuck you can try cleaning the edges of the disk tray when its open as well as the edges of the xbox around where the disk tray is while its open with a dry cloth. ( I did it with a slighty damp one but I have a second Xbox 360
so I wasn't to worried about being gentle )

You shouldn't have replaced your disc tray by yourself, this voids your warranty. You should have let MS fix it for you, The Laser Diode is probably damaged. While retrieving info it probably catches a fault in the live service then kind of screws up and
sends you to the Xbox Home. You may need to buy a new console.

 

Service by non-authorized personal is not permitted by the Terms of Usage agreement. You broke a legally binding contract and you will not be able to get help here.
