New Controller won't charge

    New Controller won't charge


    Got my Xbox One X yesterday and replaced my original Xbox One this morning under the tv.

    Transferred over all my games and backup to the new console. All working great.

    I've taken one of my rechargeable batteries from my original Xbox One controller that doesn't actually charge it up (micro USB port is broken) and put it in the new controller I received with the console. (Comes from the Play and Charge kit)

    And it doesn't charge...

    Checked the cable, that is fine as my other original controller starts charging up as it should (little orange light comes on on the cable), but the new controller doesn't seem to want to charge. Swapped the batteries over, same result. Have I got a duff
    controller?

    I noticed that both working controllers have different firmwares when I tried to update them, but both of them were up to date. I assume there is something different about the new controller internally?

    Controller charging problem

    I couldn't find a hardware section so I wasn't sure where to begin looking into this problem.

    I have a refurbished controller that I bought some years ago,it has always worked great, but recently I picked up an energizer power & play charger for my controllers.

    one controller charges just fine on both ports, and with either set of batteries.

    My refurbished controller however won't charge. The green ring on the controller just ever so slightly glows, and the charger just flashes red a couple of times and won't charge that controller.

    Anyone experience this before when trying to charge a controller through the charge & play port on the controller?

    Xbox series x controller question

    It depends what charging station you mean.

    If it's a charging station that plugs into the Micro USB port of the current Xbox One controllers, then it won't work, as the new controllers have an USB C type connector instead of the Micro USB connector.

    If it's a third party charging station that comes with a special battery pack that has charging contacts on the outside, it might be possible that it still works.

    But since you can use your existing Xbox One controllers on the Series X directly, you shouldn't need to use the new controller type, unless you really need to use the new share button.

    So you can still use a Xbox One controller with a Xbox One charging station on the Xbox Series X.

    I have the same problem here.

    My old Play and Charge charges fine in my old controller but won't charge in my Elite.

    Hi,

    Seems to me you bought a Series X|S controller? To tell the difference, the new controllers have an additional 'Share' button, a more refined along with a non-slip surface on the rear of the controller.

    The Series X|S has a different battery compartment so the 'Stealth' batteries won't fit. In addition, the new controllers use USB-C for charging. The Venom charging station was designed for the Xbox One controller that uses a Micro USB connector. You can't attach Micro USB to a USB type C port.

    You're using a wired controller, a wireless controller and the Wireless Gaming Adapter, or a wireless controller with a Play & Charge cable? The Play & Charge cable option won't work as that cable doesn't transport data.

    Do you have a wired 360 controller?

    If you're trying to use a 360 wireless controller with a play and charge, this won't work as the play and charge does not transmit and receive data.
