NEW Avatar wearing purchases from old Avatar app.... Possible?

So has everyone already knows, Microsoft recently upgraded the Avatar app for Xbox. In doing so anything that you previously bought from the Avatar shop is now locked in the old app. The only way to access any of it is to dress up your old Avatar and then
import your old Avatar with the editor app.

All I want to know is...

Can I create a brand new avatar from scratch, and then dress them up in the purchased items from the old app?

Basically brand new Avatar, wearing old items!

the crazy part about this whole thing is it took 3 hours in life chat with a tech guy to find out that in order to import my old Avatar... I would first need to go to my PC, upgrade my operating system to Windows 10, then download the Avatar app, then download
the Avatar editor app, then open the at Avatar app, then open the editor Avatar app, then hit import... Finished!

Reliance on one device to fix another device is a serious problem I think!

If I have a problem with something on my Xbox I should not need to go to my computer in order to fix it!

what would have happened if I was the guy that owned an Xbox One console but did not own a computer? Then what would have happened?

Changing to original avatar

I had this issue too. Here's what I did to fix it: -

1. Make sure that neither avatar app is running in the background. One way to do this is to cold boot/reboot your console.

2. Launch the Xbox Original Avatars app, make a change to your old avatar and save it. All I did is change a piece of clothing. I'm not sure if this step is 100% required, but I'm including it here cos it's part of what I did.

3. Force close the Xbox Original Avatars app. To do this, open the guide, highlight the app, press the menu button, then choose "Quit" from the little menu that pops up. You should notice that next to the avatar's main tile at the top of your home screen
it now says "Launch" next to the app instead of "Resume", which denotes that it's no longer running in the background.

4. Launch the new Xbox Avatars app and go to the section where you can choose to use your old avatar. It should now load in OK.

I believe this issue occurs because you're using the new Xbox Avatars app while the Xbox Original Avatars app is still running in the background, and that stops the old avatar from loading into the new app for some reason, so all you see is your new avatar
standing next to a spinning loading circle that never goes away.

There are two Xbox Avatar apps now. The most recent update launching the
Xbox Avatar Editor. If you are referring to all the lost content from your previous avatar you would need to use the Xbox
Original Avatars App.

You can set to display your new avatar or your old one as well. Hope this helps!

you cant use purchases with the old avatar to the new one

you can still use the old one and you still have those purchases but the apps are completely separate

new avatars and new store for them

 

The old avatars and avatar content is not compatible with the new avatar system. I have lots of items that I wish I could transfer to my new avatar. We do have the option to use either avatar we wish as a profile.

 

No you can't buy hopefully they work out a way to do it in the future

 

I hope that they update the old items and move them over to the new editor

It would be really cool (but no doubt a lot of work) to have them be made compatible.

 

I would love to be able to use my old Avatar items on the new avatars. However, I don't mind simply choosing my old avatar if need be to wear the items. Both versions of the avatars look good in my opinion.

 

Sorry about the time and effort it took for you to get your answer but given that the new avatar system is built from the ground up, the old items and customizations are not directly compatible. While I think this would be a welcome update I do not feel
this would happen.

 

I really hope they bring some of the old avatar stuff over to the new avatars. I want my Robocop outfit and accessories, they were the absolute best.
