    Network speed issues for Xbox


    Hello,

    I have an Xbox series x and my son uses my old Xbox one.

    Both devices are in the same room, connected to the same wifi, which is full fibre 150

    Downloads from game pass are much quicker on my old Xbox one and when I run a network speed check the Xbox one shows download speeds of 110 mbps.

    On my Xbox series x the same test returns download speeds of 44 mbps.

    I’ve made sure both consoles are upto date in terms of updates, I reset and reconnected the wifi connections but results are the same.

    Makes no sense that the Xbox one is performing better, I’ve also ran speed checks on other devices around my home and they all return results of over 100 mbps, it’s just my series x that seems to be having issues????

    Any ideas???

    Hiya,

    Nope I don’t have mesh, no boosters or anything.

    Both machines connected to main hub wifi, and both machines in the same room so can’t even blame distance etc.

    Can’t run an ethernet to them as wife will kill me for running cables but i will move the series X into the front room and try it via cable tonight

    It’s just baffled me that the X is having crappy downloads but the One isn’t

    The other option you would look at is how far away your console is from your Gateway. The TG862G/CT has a terrible signal, if its anymore than 25' away from your console you'll have issues.

    Hey there ItsTheKing11!

    Thanks for posting back! There known issues with that Arris gateway regarding random disconnects similar to what you have described. I recommend checking out our Arris
    TG862G Known Issues post and update the Arris' firmware to version 7.6.59c or later.

    In addition to updating your Arris TG862G's firmware, I also suggest disabling UPnP if you only own one Xbox console and have already forwarded the proper ports. UPnP is useful only if there are more than one Xbox 360 or Xbox One console.

    After you have updated your Arris device to it's latest firmware, turned off UPnP, and have verified that the proper ports have been opened on your Arris gateway, post back and let us know if the issue persists or not! :)
