Netgear: Cannot connect range extender to Xbox 1

Due to our Modem having a small signal range, I am using a Wifi Extender for get my xbox to be connected as well as my other devices. We have a router but it's getting it configured that I give up on.

The Extender I'm using is Netgear WN 2500RP and the router I haven't configured is Netgear WNR 1000.

Mywifiext setup

1. Plug your range extender to power button, and wait till the device turns on.
2. After you are connected. On the address bar of your browser type, mywifiext.net and then press the enter button.
3. Now click on Netgear nighthawk extender setup and it’s time to register your netgear Genie Setup. Create the required account.
4. Later you will be asked, ‘how you want to use your extender’ there select the option of Wi-Fi range extender network.
5. A list of wireless networks will appear. There select with the available network. Enter the password and select next.

Thanks, I looked it up. Similar in that in only affects the wireless of the Xbox, but not quite the same problem.

At this point I don't know what else to do unfortunately since I have tried 2 separate Xbox's. Tried going to the Gears of War forums and asked if anyone else had the same problem but only 1 person has replied, and the said they don't experience the same
thing.

I have "temporarily" solved the problem by plugging in a range extender next to the Xbox. The range extender is connected wirelessly to my main router, and the Xbox is connected to the range extender with an ethernet cable. So the connection is still wireless,
but the Xbox thinks it is wired. Obviously you would think by using a range extender my connection would be worse, but it solves the problem for now.

It is very true that range extenders can cause some connection issues when it comes to gaming, I have the Netgear Orbi myself and I will be honest, I have not noticed much issues. Individual results will vary I am sure!

I'm using an Arris TG852G/CT router and a Netgear WN3000RP range extender. Also, when I use checkmyports.net, the message I get is "Port 80 on 10.0.0.100 is closed! - Connection timed out," even though it barely took any time to check.
