Hi, my dad helped me make my Microsoft account when I was about 8 or 9, so that I could play on Xbox Live with my friends from school. I am now almost 20, and recently noticed that:

A: I am set to a child account still (my birthday information is accurate however).

B: My backup email and phone number are my dad's.

This causes an obvious security issue, especially once I move out, so my dad and I decided to switch the account security information over to me.

So I put the request through, and I can no longer play Minecraft with my friends unless I cancel the request. It's not like I'm trying to purchase a realm, so what's the issue here?

You only get locked from the account if you try to replace the safety information without being logged in the account, so you can cancel the request, log in the account here then select add the information

Hi there,

the wait time (mostly 30 days) is a security measure.

This prevents people who steal an account to quickly change the security info to prevent people from regaining access to their account.

I'm afraid the only thing you can do is wait those 30 days, since there is no way to speed it up.

As it would turn out, for whatever reason having the two step verification turned on in my security settings was preventing my console from being able to login with correct info. Once this was disabled in my account settings I was able to login just fine.

Anyway, chat support was able to help, and hopefully this will help others in the future with this same problem

The wait time for 30 days cant be changed unfortunately. This is a safety feature to prevent all your securityinfo been changed with out you knowing. In the 30 days you can still sign in and play your games but you wouldnt be able too change any other privacy
settings or security info in that 30 day window.
